FIORENTINA
After stories with Tottenham and Leicester i have flown the nest to one of my favourite leagues. Serie A despite the finances, stadia, quality and so in still is home to some great teams. My favourite being Fiorentina. I had a good game with them on FM08 and now im giving it ago on FM10. I have loaded just two nations, England and Italy from League Two and above and Serie B and above, with a large database. I am on the original patch. My aim is to take the club to the top so my quest begins...

Ivan Carminati joins as first team coach
Previously the club didnt have a first team expert so i drafted in Ivan Carminati after reccommendation from my assistant manager Gabriele Pin.

New scout Oliver Bierhoff for Viola
There was only 3 scouts at Fiorentina and Roberto Ripa and Antonio DeVitis didnt give any decent reports so the addition of Oliver Bierhoff is fantastic for the club.

First signing for Chris Saunt
My first signing is in. Marco Verratti from Pescara has joined for £500k. Bringing in young players is my transfer policy and with him being an Italian it was a no-brainer to bring him in. Pescara will also get a change to arrange a friendly.
Mutu moves on
I have chosen to move on Adrian Mutu to generate some more capital. He has joined Manchester City for £15m. With the Romainian being 30 years old it is fantastic business in my view. Also i dont like him so a very pleasing deal.
Big money signing for Viola
I have signed Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pederson for £12m. The Norwegian's long throw attribute was a big factor in the deal as i am to put my mark on the Fiorentina team.

A dissapointing loss but its only a friendly and it shows me how the team react when going behind. A good run out and ive learned something about some individuals so not a bad game.

Cardozo seals Fiorentina switch
A brilliant capture for the club. The £8m transfer of Oscar Cardozo will bring magnicent height (193cm) which will benefit the team from M.G.Pederson's throw in. He will also be a good target man so Stevan Jovetic and Alberto Gilardino will have to perform to keep their places.

The Viola players really impressed me in this game. The way the team kept the ball and dominated is a real positive point. All be it only a friendly against a Serie B side.

AJ Auxerre 1 - 1 Fiorentina (Santana)
A difficult trip to France but a good run out and performance. Fiorentina fell behind in this one but they came back which is another learning curve for boss Chris Saunt. A good responce unlike in the Bari game.

Youngster seals Lazio move
Brilliantly named Marcos Vinicius Santos Miranda has moved to Lazio for £120k. The Viola chairman accepted the deal saying it was too good to turn down which sparked some difficult questions in the media. I replied by saying the relationship between me and the chairman is one of respect and that i wont be dwelling on the chairman's decision.
Pescara 1 - 2 Fiorentina (Marchionni; Gilardino)
A spare of the moment friendly which Pescara orderd from the Verratti transfer. Many players were on international duty so Verratti and Boubacar got a chance to impress. However they did not and it was a hanging on mission toward the end.

Pre-Season has now come to an end and all attention switches to the Champions League. A best play-off round match with the winner qualifing for the group stage and the loser dropping into the Europa League. Serie A will then get underway with a trip to Juventus and then home to Bologna.

Losing on the opening day of the season is never a good oman. But it was a tight encounter where Viola could only manage a goal from a penalty. Oscar Cardozo cooly slotted it home.

An outstanding defensive display and a M.G.Pederson throw-in cause Grygera to foul and concede a penalty. Cardozo for the 2nd game running scored from the spot to give Fiorentina a memorable result.

A poor result not qualifing for the group stage but not scoring infront of the Viola fans is a shame. We will not be enterting the Europa League group stage.

An excellent draw. Fiorentina should easily qualify through the group with a 100% record being a realistic target to aim for.

Viola ran Bologna all over the field today. A fantastic result with 2 outstanding strikes from Ricardo Montolivo. Savio came on as a sub to add to the scoring in the 2nd half. The florence club now top the table.

Fiorentina lead the table in Serie A after August. Very early days but a promising start with 6 points from 6. 4 goals scored and 0 conceded.
