NEWSFLASH: Fiorentina have appointed rookie Gary Coulter as their new manager. The fans have not taken this well, and will be out for blood if the new manager does not perform.

"I am honoured and privileged to have been given this oppurtunity given my lack of experience in the professional ranks. I will do my utmost to uphold the values and traiditions of this great club. In saying that though, I have an idea of who features in my plans, and who doesn't; so fans, be prepared for a new look Viola this season. We will look to challenge for honours at on all fronts. Thank you, and roll on the success." Sky Sports interview with new Viola manager Gary Coulter.

The board haven given rookie manager Gary Coulter a 2 year contract, worth £17,750 p/w. They have also supplied a transfer kitty of £9M to work with.

"I know that £9M is not a lot to work with in the current transfer market, but I will be making big changes to the squad, and will provide one or two shocks within this coming month or so!" Coulter regarding transfers this summer.

"Overall, I think I have a squad capable of challenging for the highest of honours this season. Now we just need to get all the boys working for eachother, and not themselves. I have made a lot of changes, and I do not expect them to gel instantly. I appreciate that it may take a month or so but I promise you this; I will give you my all, as manager of this club, and I will expect nothing less from my players.

The next game against Lyon is crucial. They have a very strong and skillful squad; so we will have to work hard, attack as a unit, defend as a unit, play to the whistle." Marca interviewing Coulter shortly after the capture of Sergio Canales.

You sold Alberto :(. However you made up for it with some good signing, Dzeko could of been bought for around £19M though, you have alot of depth in your squad good luck!

Champions League Best Placed Playoff VS Lyon

First Leg
Fiorentina 0 - 0 Olympique Lyonais

"I thought the lads played well. I think we were unlucky not to get something out of the game. We definitely deserved a penalty in the second half I thought, but sometimes these things happen in football. I'm not going to keep going on about it. We had plenty of chances to take the game; Edin in particular but we didn't and now we have to got to Lyon and take it to them in front of their fans. it won't be easy, but we're sure as **** going to give it a go!" Coulter in his post-match interview with Setanta Ireland.

Second Leg
Lyon 3 - 0 Fiorentina

"I am absolutely disgusted with my players tonight; and I let them know that in the dressing room after the game. I think we came here with the right attitude, the right mentality and mindset. As soon as the whistle blew though, they forget everything we had prepared all week for. They didn't play as a unit, or as a team. I apologise to all the fans; we simply weren't good enough. Now we have to hope for a decent draw in the UEFA Cup, and try to go all the way..." Coulter after his teams demolition by Lyon.

Other Results in August - Serie A
Bologna 1 - 2 Fiorentina (Cristiano Zanetti, Ricardo Montolivo)
Fiorentina 2 - 0 Juventus (Mario Santana, Edin Dzeko)

"Fantastic result against Juventus! If I'm honest, I thought they were going to be a lot tougher to break down defensively. However, the lads played outstandingly, controlling the game from start to finish and I'm glad to see Edin of the mark this season. Hopefully we can produce a few more performances like this throughout the season." Coulter in his latest interview following a thrashing of the Old Lady.

How much do you start with?
I started with £9M, as stated above. But I got good deals on the players I sold; and I financed my big purchases over 48 months so that I could afford them.

screenshots would be nice
Yeah I was thinking that myself haha. bare with me, this is my first story. Any ideas for improvements etc would be appreciated.

Same here mate, I've never really been impressed with him in the FM series either. I find he's very hit & miss.

I thought I would let you guys know what tactics and training I am using for my players.

I am using the Tony MacD Dominance tactics (can be found in the tactics download section); so thank you to him for that. My starting 11 usually looks like this, when available for selection:

I am using Dan's training file for all of my players which can also be found in the download section of the site.

How is Dan's training? Can you get back to me on that after some good improvements or something? I'm still on Tug's.

Thanks.

Yeah I'll keep you posted mate. I only started using it a couple of in-game weeks ago so nothing yet. Though with my current squad, especially the defence, they are getting on a bit so I'll be happy if the training keeps their stats level until I have the money to replace them and move them on.

I am just going to power through Spetember and October's results as I have already played those months. Once I have caught up to my current game, I will start doing more detailed match reports.

September's Results
Serie A
Palermo 1 - 1 Fiorentina (Marco Donadel)
Atlanta 1 - 1 Fiorentina (Edin Dzeko)
Fiorentina 3 - 3 Napoli (Ricardo Montolivo, Marquinhos, Stevan Jovetic)

"Not a great month if I'm honest. We really should have taken the two away games. As for Napoli, we wasted a two goal lead and deserve nothing more than a point." Coulter's response to a mediocre September in Serie A.

UEFA Cup
Fiorentina 3 - 0 Vorskia (Ricardo Montolivo, Juan Manuel Vargas, Edin Dzeko)

"I'm delighted to start off the campaign with a win. Hopefully we can continue this and take the knockout stages by storm." Coulter in a buoyant mood after his side's thrashing of Vorskia in the UEFA Cup.

October's Results - thus far
Serie A
Udinese 2 - 3 Fiorentina (Ricardo Montolivo, Edin Dzeko, Ruud van Nistelrooy)
Fiorentina 2 - 2 AS Roma (Stevan Jovetic, Juan Manuel Vargas)

"To come from behind twice against Udinese, and eventually grab the winner through Ruud is amazing. I am elated with my players!" Coulter reacting positively to his players fighting spirit against Udinese.

UEFA CUP
Aab 0 - 1 Fiorentina (Stevan Jovetic)

"It's always nice to come here and grab a win away from home. I'll be expecting my players to make it 3 out of 3 when Benfica come to town a fortnight from now." BBC Sport talking to Coulter after another victory in the UEFA Cup.

Dino always scored alot for me, 26 in all competitions in my first season. I found him inconsistent though and he is unsettled and bad morale comes often so I sold him to Spurs.

Doing ok so far, conceding a few though.

I know mate, conceding far too many. That's the first department that will be sorted, the defence. I need a stronger right back than Di Silvestre. I know he develops well, but he isn't good enough at the moment. I'm looking to bring in Demichelis and Jonny Evans during the January window. As well as a few regens my scouts have kindly picked out for me.

im fiorentina aswell!
how much do u think i should sell jovetic or montolivio for?

ps i dont really want to sell them but its incase i get a massive offer for them or they become unsettled!
plz reply quickly!

I wouldn't sell either of them mate. However, if you must, I'd say about £17M for Jovetic and no less than £25M for Montolivo.

VIOLA ON CLOUD 9
Fiorentina took a firm grasp on first place of Group E after their 3rd UEFA Cup vistocy, against Benfica. This gives the Viola 9 points and leaves them in poll position to qualify for the knockout round.

Fiorentina 3 - 1 Benfica (Ricardo Montolivo, Edin Dzeko x2)

"I'm delighted to have taken all 3 points today. Benfica are a great team! We had to play as a unit, a team, and I think we did it well today. Now we just need to work on consistency, try not to concede as much, and I think we'll be fine." Coulter after his teams European success.

"I am disappointed by the loss to Parma, and the draw to Genoa. These are teams that we should be beating. However, we had some team meetings, changed the tactics, and were able to get a fantastic result against Milan which hopefully we can build on and push on to the top of the table." Coulter speaking about his team after his second month in charge.

Dzeko voted Club Player of the Month
