So I have a player/coach with Weymouth called Marcus Browning who is a fairly good player even though he's 37 but is an absolutely **** coach!
Is there any way that I can sack him without releasing him as a player? I'm only allowed one coach and I want to hire Hans Jorritsma!

offer him a contract and it will say Player/coach and set it to player ;)

but sometimes the crappy coaches have a very good potential and become class coaches.
With Man City I signed this Ivory Coast scout who was a regen from the game, played for Lazio mostly. He had very poor scouting stats, but now he's a top scout for man city.

True my Notts County assistant manager John Gannon on 08 became world class after 6 season, starting with **** ratings!
Also does anyone know any good assistant managers for low league? My assistant is brutal but I don't want to fire him until I have someone good secured!

Agostinho Oliveira... I was playing as Vejle BK (from Denmark) and my assistant manager sucked.... So i signed this guy... Maybe not the best skills, but he's good anyways.. ;)

this is completely true, i find it quite a lot in my LLM's, you can sign an unproven coach who becomes far better, if you a poor club though, make sure you get him to sign a long contract then when they move you get compen for it. Ive played a season before where the biggest transfer fee i received by far was from a coach moving to the premiership
