Fire and Passion
A Cardiff City Story

Season 2013-14
In this story I will be taking in the role of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as newly appointed Cardiff City boss. I hope to stay with Cardiff and build them into title-challengers, both in England and Europe. Of course, under massive pressure from CCFC's owner Mr. Tan, I am sure this story will be a rollercoaster for both me playing, and you as viewers.

I will be updating month by month, with special updates keeping you guys up to date with squad progression, transfers and stories from the mighty Bluebirds!

Ole makes first signings
Statement of intent

First day on the job and was thrust into a meeting with Mr. Tan, which turned out to be long a quite tedious. He outlined what the boards expectations were and the budgets for the coming season -

Minimum Expectation - Avoid Relegation
Wage budget - ?700k
Transfer budget - ?4.4m

I am happy enough with these and have decent basis to start with. Tan also informed me that I was not going to be judged on any philosophies either which freed me up to mould the team as I see fit.

Scarily, Cardiff City's best trophy won to date is the Championship title. Hopefully it won't be too long until that fact is changed. I feel that with the current squad we have a good basis to push on from, especially with players such as gary Medel and Steven Caulker in our ranks. I believe that signings-wise we just need that game changer, whether it be in the middle of the park, out on the wing or up front we will just have to see.

On signings, we have made a forray into the market and have aquired Connor Hunte on a free transfer. Conner has just recently been released by Chelsea and we are delighted to have him. Being only 16 he is definitly one for the future, but he could make a few cameo roles in the senior squad if he impresses. next was the aquisition of Jiloan Hamad, a 22 year old winger who will join in january from Swedish club Malmo FF. Lastly we forked out ?1.5m to sign 29 year old goalkeeper Carlos Kameni from Malaga. I believe we have pulled off a real coup with this guy, he adds some much needed experience having played Champions League football with Malaga. Joe Lewis has left to go to Barnsley for ?500k. Other than that, both Bellamy and Cowie have signed new contracts with the club.

We were also involved in three friendlies in the month of July, with mixed results:

CCFC 0-0 Basel

We had a staggering 25 shots to Basel's 8, but just could'nt put the ball in the net.

CCFC 2-4 Malaga

Conway and Bellamy with the goals, at the end of the day we were ultimately overpowered by Malaga's efficiency in front of goal. However, at least we found our shooting boots!

CCFC 3-0 Chievo

A very good performance by the lads as things begin to take shape, resolute at the back which prolific in front of goal. Goals coming from captain Mark Hudson, Craig Noone and Joe Mason with a peach from 25 yards.

Decent month overall, looking forward to the start of the league next time!

Going to love this series as I'm a massive Cardiff fan, I was going to start a story with Cardiff in the World League database but I think I'll choose a different team. Also if you re-arrange the transfer budget you can sign Fabian Schar from FC Basel. You can get him for ?5mil up front and ?6mil over 48 months.

I always change their kit colour to blue in editor, even if I'm starting a save outside of EPL. I don't like the "Red bluebirds". :\

Premier League Kicks off
Nightmare Start

We finished off our pre-season with a tour of Spain. We beat Llagostera 2-0, a good overall team performance. The next game was an 8-0 win against Doria. This was a fantastic result with all the boys playing well and chances being created. The last game of the tour was a comfortable 3-1 win versus Huesca. After these games I was quietly confident about the beginning of the season. How wrong I was.

Results:

CCFC 0-1 Newcastle

We dominated the game for 75 minutes, then bang. Marl Hudson puts through his own net and we lose 1-0. Not the start I had imagined!

Giovanni Moreno comes in for 950k from Shanghai Shenua. Having played with the likes of Drogba and Anelka this guy knows how to change a game when it matters. He can play either on the right wing or upfront, so I am very excited about this capture.

MCFC 4-0 CCFC

This is exactly what we needed. An away game against Aguero and co. Less said the better i think!

CCFC 2-1 Northampton Town

Finally! Our first win of the season. Goals from Noone and Moreno, finnally our first win of the season. Onwards from here Bluebirds!

CCFC 0-2 Everton

So, yea. Another loss which keeps us rooted to the bottom of the table. Again, more chances and more possession. Everton just have that clinical edge that we seem to lack.

Join me next month, hopefully a more productive september guys!

We drew Reading in the Capital One Cup at home, may get a little cup run going! We'll have to wait and see ladies and gentlemen!

See you guys next time.
