I'm going to start a new NUFC save this weekend since I've finally sorted out a tactic I like, but the biggest struggle is their CB situation. It's pretty awful depth-wise, but I know in the second season I will have Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Jamaal Lascelles returning from loan, so I don't really want to drop cash for a perm signing.

Any suggestions on a CB who I can pick up on loan for the season that's starting quality? I know Tyler Blackett is available, but he's more cover and I'd prefer to not play Steven Taylor since he's a foul magnet and Mike Williamson is hot garbage.

Not sure about loans but balanta is available reasonably cheap from river plate

You could try loaning Zouma from Chelsea.

Personally I would bring in 'Ryan Shawcross' from stoke & sell 'Mapou Yanga-Mbwia' if he comes back from his loan spell. I think Roma have the option to buy him for a set fee.

This. Balanta for 5mish, he's already at a good premiership defender quality but is a future superstar. Pick him up and don't let go (or give in to the millions offered, it'll be a guaranteed profit.)
