I'm having real issues at the moment with keeping players fit at the moment during intense runs of games - less than 3 full days between games (i.e, a saturday game followed by a wednesday game) and I'm finding that my players just don't recover in time. I've always tried to rotate my squad during these periods anyway, but playing as Derby County I'm into my first season in Europe and I'm playing midweek virtually every week, including Cup competitions, and I'm struggling. I've just played Dinamo Moscow (UEFA Cup), Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea and my next game is at Anfield to play Liverpool, and only 2 of my preferred starting 11 are fit (by fit, I mean over 90%), a centre half and my goalkeeper, after playing strong line-ups in all my previous games. I've always tried to stick to starting players who are 90% fit or more but it leaves me in a quandary now as I relaistically stand no hope of a result in my next game. I know the circumstances in this case are pretty specific, but are there any general rules I can follow to keep my best players fighting fit during these tough runs of games?

I usually rest players or give them 60 minutes ect, play my reserves in the lesser games.
