BBC Sport - Five Mexico players test positive for banned substance

Five Mexico internationals have tested positive for the banned substance Clenbuterol.

The players named are goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, defenders Francisco Rodriguez and Edgar Duenas and midfielders Antonio Naelson 'Sinha' and Christian Bermudez.

Mexico are taking part in Concacaf Gold Cup in the United States.

Despite the controversy, Mexico booked their place in the quarter-finals on Thursday with a 5-0 victory over Cuba.

If this is true, I doubt we will be seeing Ochoa in Europe any time soon.

was just about to post
and ochoa had an offer to france
it was beacuse of the meat they ate as well

Pretty serious stuff, clenbuterol. Interesting to see how this pans out.

What exactly does it do?

From what I know about it from cycling, it's meant to be a decongestant for people with asthma. However, it can also increase stuff like blood transportation of oxygen, blood pressure, and give you an increase in general aerobic capacity. God knows why a keeper would really need that of course...

Jesus I was praying to see Hernandez's name there.

thats pretty serious stuff, might spell the end for the careers of these 5 players although i dont know if they took it willingly or was it in their food

Don't know why, but I instantaneously asumed Hernandez was going to be listed. Bit surprised Ochoa's on that list, seeing though that he is a goalkeeper and him already being at a level that doesn't require substances that enhance his level of performance.
