Manchester United
Fallen from grace since the glory days Manchester United in 2024/25 finished 15th in the Premier League, their lowest since 1974. Their most recent best finish under Ole Gunnar Solskjær saw them finish 2nd a total 12 points behind fierce rivals Manchester City in 2020-21. The club having spent over £1.6 billion since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson on the transfer of 74 players and a further £40m on appointing managers finds itself in a freefall suffering arguably it's worst defeat to Grimsby Town 2-2 on penalties in the league cup.

The Squad
Goalkeepers
Realistically none of these are good enough to play for the team. Onana will reluctantly be our number 1 until we can finance or field a much better keeper. All four realistically need to be moved on.
Defenders
With an aging Harry Maguire nearing the end of his contract - we will be looking to thin the numbers in this area. We will likely be playing a back four and having team first team defenders seems excessive.
Midfielders
Our midfield is really lacking numbers and needs reinforcement as a priority. Casemiro isn't getting any younger and is earning £300k p/w. Need to inject some youth and leadership into the side, and looking to play with three in the middle of the park.
Forwards
The least concerning part of the Manchester United squad is their 'new look' forward line offering several options both up top and out wide. At the moment I have no concerns about any of the players going forward who are all of decent age, quality and offer something different from one another.
A number of high profile players are on loan for the season and we will review what to do with them when they return. Ramus has an optional £44m fee which I doubt Napoli will exercise.
Transfer Aims for January
-Look to strength midfielder
-Look to off-load some defenders
-Attempt to find a long-term goalkeeping option (if that fails then a short-term option)
