I was bored with my current season so I decided to run some tests to see how important flair was for forwards. I distrbuted 20 identical strikers throughout the pl, 5 with 20 flair, 5 with 15 flair, 5 with 10 flair and 5 with 5 flair. I ran through the first season a few times and recorded the results:

Flair 20

Goals per Game: 0.68
Goals/Attempts: 21.4%
Shots/On Target: 53.6%
Assists per Game: 0.17
Average Rating: 7.60

Flair 15

Goals per Game: 0.63
Goals/Attempts: 23.6%
Shots/On Target: 53.4%
Assists per Game: 0.18
Average Rating: 7.68

Flair 10

Goals per Game: 0.42
Goals/Attempts: 16.0%
Shots/On Target: 46.2%
Assists per Game: 0.17
Average Rating: 7.61

Flair 5

Goals per Game: 0.47
Goals/Attempts: 17.7%
Shots/On Target: 51.0%
Assists per Game: 0.11
Average Rating: 7.53

Slight benefit between 20-15, much bigger jump 15-10.

How about assists ? And how many games they played ?
PS. What role did they play ? I assume they all had same attributes except flair ? And they all played with the same players ?

i strongly belive flair is very important. Ebi Smolarek was one beast of player back in fm 2010 because he suddenly did amazing stuff like going into a one on one with the keeper, pulling back and lob from outside the penalty box. i loved him flair 17 finishing 17 creativity 18 play him in the trequantista!

Inconclusive

Did you account for extraneous variables?

I personally think strikers with flair are fun to watch, but are not necessarily better than other strikers.

Was the rest of your team exactly the same? One season is a pretty small sample too, I'd do a few more. But it's cool you're putting the effort into investigating it. :)

I'm not sure that flair is something you can study in isolation. I think the ultimate effect of flair on a striker's performance is going to depend critically on his decisions and creativity attributes. For example, I would expect a striker with low decisions to actually perform worse with higher flair.

The amount of creative freedom given to the striker in your tactics will also determine how much of an effect his flair has.
