I have read through the stickys and searched and can't find a problem similar to mine. If i have missed one, then i apologise for starting a new thread, but would appreciate any help someone can give me.
I have played FM for a long time and rarely had any huge problems. When i installed FM2011 it failed to launch. Installation went fine, but the game flickered to and fro full screen and my desktop as if trying to find the correct resolution. It will do this non-stop and never settle. Doing a bit of research i managed to find the problem. I updated my graphics card and FM2011 ran fine, clocking up 80odd hours of play time.
Recently, (stupidly) I updated to windows vista service pack 2. Things have started going lopsided since then. The shortcut logo has turned from an FM logo to a basic html logo, and when launching again the flickering is back. I have checked and my DirectX and Graphics Card are both up to date. I tried reverting to the older graphics card version with no luck. I have tried launching from the FM.exe rather than any shortcut and still no luck. I have tried running in compatibility mode, i have tried launching the game in a small resolution and no luck.
At the moment i cannot even get to the start menu on FM so cant change preferences from in game menu. Can anyone help? I am happy to give my computer specs if required. My laptop is also perfectly able to run FM compared to computer requirements.
