I'm now in 2017 with Palermo and I begin to notice the wheels are really starting to come off this game. Regens and young promising players in general cant get a foot in to the footballing world and it really makes the game lose its charm more and more for every season.
I just recently made a search filtering out all players 25 or younger and noticed Neymar was the only one calued above £10m, not having just been bought. Clubs like Sp*rs and Barca had bought sum crappy 23-24 year olds at 10-15m but that was it.
Also, checking out the most recent Balon d'Or voting i noticed there was only one regen (mine, obv) in contention out of 30-40 players. The nominees where the usual suspects, and pretty much the same you would expect to find in the 2011 voting (apart obv from the ones born around 1980 and earlier and added the likes of Neymar, Otamendi and Kroos.
Add the fact that Messi just won his 8th consecutive Balon d'Or and it shows you another problem with this game. Players just dont ever decline in ability until they reach 33-34, not even the slightest off season. Its seems as when they reach their PA (according to every other scout this usually occurs between the ages of 18 and 19) they always perform steadily until their pace drops below 9. This might be one of the reasons regens wont catch a break. There simply just aint enough room for any more top players than there already is, and considering most of them at the start of the game are 21-26 y o, they probably wont get to play much until around 2020.
As i said ive ony played 'til 2017 and dont really know what it looks like in 2025-2030 but i predict there will just be a handful of decent players while most teams are filled with crappy 27 year olds as was the fact in fm10.
Cliffs: Regens are generally **** and dont gain reputation. Performances arent volatile enough. Messi wins Balon d'Or in 2032.
EDIT: Oh, and i just remembered seeing a horrible portuguese ST picking up 5 o Young Player of the Month- awards in the EPL playing for Swansea and averaging ~6.60. Says it all really..
