As Benfica,I have just signed Alexis Sanchez from Udinese for £14.75million and Jorge Andrade on a free after selling players such as Mantorras,Nuno Gomes,Martel (erc. etc.) but what I really want to know is if press conferences for new signings should be used.I mean, the last time I announced a press conference to promote my new signing,he took offence to it and I had to sell him in January because he played so bad.

Have any of you called press conferences for new signings,if so,do you do them regularly? Do you feel they are good?

I never announce a press conference to promote new signings, it always makes them play worse for me.

Yes, but if you sign a really good player and you decline to unveil the player then you miss out on all the merchandice sales and all sorts by not introducing to player to his new life, and if you sign a foreign player it could also be a good thing not to delcine to unveil the player

there just constantly annoying after every player you sign!

especially when you may be signing a youth player who you are not intending to play in your first team at all for a couple of seasons.

the questions are the same, and when "do you think the player will be vital in big matches" or something like that comes up, you need the option to say he isn't gonna be part of that.

i think the press conferences for signings should reflect what contract status you have given them, would seem more specific to the actual player then instead of the same questions over and over which are a lot of the time irrelevant!

*Like*

It's so true.I hope they change it in FM2011 and actually make them more interesting, instead of the same old boring ****.That's why I hate doing that interview at the start of the new job.Ugh.

I find press conferences can really change how a player will play for your team when first signing. For example, I signed Rodallega before and he didn't react well to one of my answers in the press conference, and had a poor season and I sold him at the end of the season.

Then on another save with exactly the same team and the same time when I signed him before, I got Rodallega again and this time he reacted well to the press conference and went onto score 26 league goals and won player of the year.

Maybe it's just a coincidence, but it certainly made a difference for me.

Ye exactly! that one annoys me too, and when in match press conferences a random link to a player you haven't heard of or even clicked on comes up :S

also! when you have to comment on rivals matches against other teams, that rarely happens in real life. And if you give the wrong answer your cagey :S

not the actual press conference bit, but when the supporters give feedback after a game and pick out any player that under performs who could be like Rooney at United and they think "Welbeck" for example should have played, when he hasn't played all season, that bit REALLY annoys me!

I just think it's too much of a gamble.:S

It's ridiculous.Bet that's what they do to Benitez in real-life XD

I just think if they could add more variety to them, like i said earlier, with different player ones for different squad statuses.

then they would be worthwhile and interesting, after you have done a few of them they just get in the way!

Ohh never knew you missed out on merchandise sales, best start doing them ;)

It actually feels like a chore.:S

You know it's coming and you have to do it.

Ye thats exactly what i feel like, it is one of the annoying parts of the game.

And considering it could be so easy to have someone research real life press conferences make them as real life as possible, and add different branches off questions depending on the answer you give, or what level of club, age of player, status of player etc.

totally transforms the chore to a part of the game.

I do think Max is right also, that they can affect the way your player plays from how you do in the press conference, which can be a good thing because it adds another aspect to the game. But when the press conference is the same each time its too simple to put the same answers, because thats what i do :S

Somehow I don`t believe a player in real life will have a ****** season simply because his manager gave an answer he didn`t like in a press conference at the start of the season. This part of the game needs a big overhaul in 2011.

At the moment I have my Assistant do press conferences (which he does quite well), and I decline any press conference about player transfers unless it`s a big signing, and then I`m very careful with my answers. :P

man, i hate that.

on my Derby game, my two best strikers were out for my last game of the season, so ihad to play my second strikers, who underperformed something chronic, then the fans complained i should have played my strikers who were out injured! :@

and once, in the new transfer conference i said that this new youth player i bought would be best later in his career (you know, hot prospect and all that), and he complained saying that my comments were negative! :@

What annoys me the most is when players are unhappy when you say you'll look to another player that can speak same language to help settle them in. How the **** can anyone take offence to that?! Another one which is just as bad is when they ask if the player will make a big impact and I say I don't want to put pressure on him and that upsets him as well! **** sake!

i think we have all clearly agreed that this area of the game needs vastly improving by FM11.

which im sure it will, well we hope!

I avoid those new signing press conferences at all cost. It's a waste of time with little benefit.

If someone can make a guide to them like the team talk guide, I may start attending them.

press confs are the most annoying part of the game i hardly ever do them same qs over and over again:(
