i've uninstalled my steam and the actual game and then installed them both again to see if that worked but nothing

FM 2011 and STEAM NOT WORKING

The same thing has been happening to me on my mac, I've done the repair thing on steam reinstalled everything after deleting and secure deleting everything. FM doesnt respond then when you try to quit steam it stops responding and and i have to force quit that too. it updated itself the other day and its been a bit funny ever since.

Help from Sean's thread: Steam Problems

Basic Troubleshooting Game Crashes

1-Check the Minimum System Requirements

If you have never played the game before on your system, it is crucial to double-check the system requirements to determine if your system can run the game. The minimum system requirements for each game can be found on the game's page in the Steam Storefront.

2-Verify Your Game Cache Files

1-Load Steam
2-From the My Games tab, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
3-Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
4-Steam will verify the game cache files (GCF's) - this process may take several minutes.
5-Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.

3-Rule out Background Applications and Anti-Virus/Security Software

Check the Programs Which Interfere with Steam https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...9828-SFLZ-9289) , and Spyware, Adware, and Viruses Interfering with Steam (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...6057-YLBN-1660)
topics to ensure the crash which you have encountered is not related to malicious software or a specific program which is known to cause issues with Steam.

4-Do Not Use Two Sound Devices Simultaneously

If you have installed a PCI or USB sound card on your system (such as a Creative X-fi or Audigy sound card), please ensure that your motherboard's onboard sound card is disabled in the system BIOS. Having both installed may result in system instability - even if the secondary device is disabled in the Windows device manager. Please consult your motherboard's manual for instructions on editing BIOS settings.

I'm having the same problem. I talked to people I know who have the game and they said they've had it happen a couple times before, but they just restart Steam and the problem is fixed. Well I can't even quit Steam without restarting my computer, as it goes to "not responding" after I get FM to force quit. This started right after I opened Steam and it updated itself. Could that have an impact?

The game worked for me before the update so I assume that rules out 1,3, and 4 above. I tried #2, but then the same issue happened. Any more ideas?

Nopee, -.- you could try downloading a early version of steam, to see if it is the current steam you have.

When I open Steam all it does is ask for an internet connection then the application says its quitting, but still stays active in my app bar and it won't quit, even when I says force quit. I went to Steam so I didn't have to buy a hard copy, but after the mess with Steam I'm going back to a hard copy for fm 2012

Had the same problem, nothing seemed to work for me

but then i found out that i had used up all my hard drive

So I deleted a few files and it worked!
