Football manager virgin, looking for someone to take my innocence

Hi, I literally just bought Football Manager 2013 yesterday and I'm still attempting to get to grips with it.
I've just started a career with Tottenham, I've only had two games so far (Layton Orient and Tours FC) And it's not just going for me. I drew 1-1 and lost 3-1. So far I've not been too active in the transfer market, I've signed Gary Hooper and sold Gomes. I also had a bid accepted for Moutinho but he didn't want to join. Can anyone guide me along with Tactics and transfers and general game play? Cheers!

My best advice is to start a game, read up in a few threads and use your own tactic

Apart from these, use the help provided within the game. Instead of just clicking forward, take the time to evalutate every option and read up on what the difference is between a fluid and rigid philosophy, an attacking and a standard strategy, an advanced and a deep lying playmaker etc.
