For the glory of FK Ventspils

In year 2009 the world of football changed. FIFA came with an irresistable proposal for chairmen of football clubs all around the world- FIFA World Football League. FIFA were doing research work over last 10 years and found out that only few football clubs are gaining any profit at all and most of them are in big dept or soon to go bankrupt.

So FIFA’s proposal suggested that teams should be divided in leagues based on the IFFHS club ranking list. The teams were spread into 8 leagues. There would 3 cup tournaments and many regional championships which all teams participate in at the start of the season. This idea was inspired by the brazilian state championships.

...So at that time when the proposal came to latvian football team FK Ventspils, their chairman Juris Bespalovs began to calculate. He realised that this would be an excelent opportunity to fulfill his ambition and dreams about FK Ventspils rizing to the glory and playing with such clubs as Barca, Arsenaland Inter as equal.

Bespalovs accepted FIFA’s offer without any doupt, because playing in this league more sponsors and beter players would become interested in FK Ventspils. The only problem was managing- who would be suitable for this role? He remembered his old friend Professional footballer- Janis Grintals.

And so the story „For the glory of FK Ventspils” began...

Janis Grintals new this wouldn't be an easy challenge, but he wanted to prove his worth to the world of football. Given the transfer budget of 180k, he began his search for strengthening of the squad.

But at the beginning he got rid of all the dead wood within FK Venstpils squad and asked for advice to his top player- Aleksands Kolinko. Atfer talking to Aleksandrs, Janis realised that he could count on this player, and he took closer look to the player Aleksandrs sugested and understood he could be good signing for the club.

During preseason Janis managed to sign 8 players for his FK Ventspils squad. During preseason press comfarence he told: „I knew this would be a tough chalange, but it’s like a dream come true for me, because Ventspils is the team I’ve supported since childhood.”

But then the hardest question rose: „what do you think of FK Ventspils squad?”

Janis remembered his mother, who used to tell him that truth is the most valuable thing in life. „ But I can’t tell the truth, that they all suck!” Janis thought, „ it would uspet the players and everyone would think ‘what a douche I am’.” So he just answered: „ I think that all aeras of club are up to chalange.”

After the tought preseason he took a break for a week. When he returned on 13 September, he saw a pile of papers on his desk. As he glanced in them he realised: „ At least the business is doing great! Maybe next season we’ll be able so sign players worth this club, instead of trying to find adequate ones on free transfer, otherwise we won’t be up to the chalange for 5th Division”

In September FK Ventpils boad and fans were delighted about the signing of Viktors Dobrecovs. FK Ventspils played 12 games and reached 5th possition in Eastern Europe championship.
