FOREVER BLOWING BUBBLES: AN FM14 WEST HAM STORY

Welcome to my first ever Football Manager story! I will be taking control of my favorite club, West Ham United, and hope to lead them to the top of the premier league.

Facilities:

(NOTE: We will be moving into the Olympic Stadium in 2016)


Finances:

Current and projected balance is promising, but we are paying a lot of money every moth to clear our debts


Key Players:

Counting on him to be a rock at the centre of defense the entire season. I'm expecting big things from the New Zealand international.

Club captain and the main leader of the team. He?ll be playing mostly in the AMC position and i?ll be looking to him to link the midfield to the strikers.

The big man up front. He?ll be playing as a lone target man mostly. Hoping for 15+ goals from the big money summer signing.

PRESEASON UPDATE:

Transfers:

We didn't have much of a transfer budget (around 1m before the Vaz Te sale), but I think I spent it well.

Sam Byram:

Right back was our weakest position, and I managed to get Byram for a decent price (2.5m up front, 3m over 48 months). This kid has got loads of potential and I think he can be our first choice right back for years to come.

Simone Pepe:

Pepe joins Nocerino and Borriello as the three Italians in on loan this season. We didn?t have many natural right wingers at the club, and I think this guy can do a job for one season. Also happy that we only have to contribute less than 20k to his wages.

Tactics: ​

Home tactic:

Our strength is pacey wingers and tall strikers, and I plan to utilize that by playing with a direct passing style and instructing the players to aim all the crosses at the target man. There aren't many technical wizards in the side, so our system is based on working hard and being direct (much like the Hammers in real life this season).

Away tactic: ​

A more defensive variation of our main system. This tactic will mostly be used for tough away games against the big boys.

Friendlies:

Friendlies went extremely well! My tactics seem to be working and I?m very optimistic about the season based on these results.

Season expectations:

After seeing our transfers and preseason results, I am very confident that we can finish in the 8-12 range, and maybe even push for Europa League. The Hammers finished 10th last season, and I would take anything above that.
