Forgot to offer new contract. Now what?

As the title claims I had a player a couple of months ago (in game) asking for a new contract. I was busy with strengthening the squad and forgot all about it. Now he has asked to be put on the Transfer list and I can't offer him a new contract. Important,if not key player, who I don't want to lose.
 
Well, you're just silly.. You even get sent a reminded saying that your player is expecting a new contract..

If there's longer than 2 years remaining on his contract then I wouldn't worry just yet, he will probably get over it soon. If he has less than two years I'd look to sell him.
 
Yea you are right. I'm quite experienced in FM but forgot it. He has two years. And my plan is to play him and hope he changes his mind and if not he might increase some marketvalue
