Hello lads, i was wondering if anyone have figured out which formation is good against which, for instence, if a team is playing 4-4-2, am i most likley to beat it by playing 4-5-1 or 3-5-2 etc, i know its all about how good your tactic is but still might have something to do with the formation aswell.
what do you think?

having a "free" player is great. If you use AMC against 442, they will find it difficult to defend from that becuase they have nobody in that area. It's as simple as that

Teams that your Scouting Report identifies as being weak against 4-4-2 will also be weak against 4-4-1-1 if you have a good Shadow Striker behind a Deep-Lying Forward, because it morphs into 4-4-2 (and sometimes 4-2-4) during the attacking phase:

I've written a post about how I deal with elite teams who play 4-2-3-1. As I point out within that thread, it works because you congest the space where the opponent's No.10 and the other three attackers around him want to work while keeping your players ready to counter-attack:

My 3-5-2 with a flat midfield 5 is effective at overwhelming weaker teams by attacking down the flanks and through the channels at the same time, so I can utilise the aerial prowess of one striker and the pace of another, with my world class Advanced Playmaker running at them from deep to create openings. I wrote about this formation low down on this page of my Manager Story:

The game recognises - via the News Story Inbox - when I change formations from match-to-match but continue to maintain a winning record. I'm currently on a run of 16 wins and 2 draws, in which I have switched between 3-5-2, 4-4-1-1 and 4-5-1 Wingers High (for the more difficult opponents). I got it wrong at West Brom, starting with 3-5-2 and being 0-2 down at half-time; so I switched to 4-4-1-1 and came away with a 3-2 win thanks to a stoppage time winner, to go top of the Premier League for the first time this season, where I currently remain.

I done what Rochey done but through a whole season at Liverpool. Pretty much created a new formation and system for every match. But after a few matches, I found certain system just worked against certain formations, no matter how they played.

E.g I found that an offset 4231 worked wonders against a 41221 (433DM). With the AM moved to a RAM - and the ST moved to LST. And if I recall correctly, a 442 narrow diamond worked well for me vs. 4231 (may have been a 442) Also made a hard working, counter orientated 4141 to counter Southampton's & Man City's narrow 4231 which worked well. There are more combinations as well, but I haven't played that save in a while.

Won the league btw. And was a few months into the second season top and unbeaten.
