Forwards position when crossing

Hi!

I have a problem with my strikers behavior on the pitch. My concern is when my wingers is running towards the byline to cross my striker is not positioned on the shoulder of the defense to receive it. He is always one or two meters behind where he is supposed to be to score.

I play a 4-4-1-1 with the striker as a Complete forward (attack) and the AMC as attacking midfielder (attack).
The striker has a free role. His mentality and creative freedom is set to 15 of 20.

Could the reason be his lack of bravery (8) and aggression (4)?

it might b because of the free role and his high creativity setting he might b looking for space more than on the shoulder. Another angle of looking at it is if he dropping of the defenders in to space why arent the wingers cutting the ball back to him for an easy finish rather than just blasting the ball across the goal mouth
