Some of you may remember me from my Chester City story probably my biggest achievement, but i have just done it the same with Crystal Palace in recent months but never done a story.

This story will be myself trying to take recent conference champions stevenage into the top tier of English Football. i know this will be a hard task but i like a challenge. il be using the latest update of transfers also.

it was the start of July the rain was hammering against my window which described my happiness at the moment out of a job close to loosing my house and with no love interest. i did the usual check my email messages when i noticed there was one from a football team desperate for a manger and quick. I got quickly on the phone to them and everything was agreed over the phone all i need do to do was sign the contract.

The next day i jumped into my Vauxhall Astra and drove to Stevenage and for the 1st time in a while i had a smile on my face. As i pulled into the car park and got out of my car in my rented Burtons suit i was welcomed by the chairman personal and we quickly signed the contracts and i was finally back into a job.

July 2009

I was told to report to the club at 900 hrs sharp on July 1st to be told what the board expect me to achieve. When the chairman opened his mouth I knew I was in trouble. He wanted the club to finish in a mid table finish with only 70k to spend, that’s when I thought I was up to my neck in trouble.

With so many positions to fill I was straight on the phone finding out what players were available and interested to join me at the club.

After hours on the phone and a few trips to the chairman’s office I was able to get a parent club Tottenham Hotspur. Hoping now Harry Redknapp is prepared to loan some players that will fit straight into my team.

Pre Season Results

Stevenage 3-1 Stevenage Reserves
A game that was expected with a win of this stature and set the team up for a good start to a hard pre season.

Burscough 0-4 Stevenage
Again another decent win and a high scoring game hopefully this will continue and the mid table finish will be more realistic

Stevenage 0-9 Cardiff City
A thought the game would have been closing than this but how wrong was I. Cardiff dominated start to finish and this was shown in the result.

Stevenage 1-4 G H Academy
The team still had a hangover from the demolition against Cardiff.

Wealdstone 0-0 Stevenage
A much better performance just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net.

Welling 2-7 Stevenage
The teams performance carried on after the Wealdstone game only difference was the goals were pilling in a great performance shown on paper.

Mansfield 0-0 Stevenage
A bit of an up and down pre season continued players seem to have forgotten how to play football.

Stevenage 1-1 Middlesbrough
A brilliant performance and a result which we deserved and will be the best performance of the season.

Concord Rover 0-3 Stevenage
A great way to finish pre season with a bit of luck the team will continue the last 4 performances into the season.

August 2009

Stevenage 3-2 Torquay

Goals from John Akinde, Lee Boylan and a late winner from Peter Winn securing 3 points in our first league game in the football league. Hopefully these results will keep coming.

Swansea 2-0 Stevenage
i put out a releatively week side against the swans as i didnt want to pick up any injuries and the team performed pretty well.

Macclesfield 0-1 Stevenage
A tight game which was end to end for the 90 minutes and with Stevenage finally taking the lead on 69 mins thru debutant Andy Wing. Another 3 points on the board and were that step closer to surviving in the league, which is priority.

This me done for a few hours now hope u guys will keep following and see if the impossible is possible with me in charge and stevenage!

is there any way i could improve the story? any advice would b great

August Continued

Stevenage 2-0 Stockport

Stevenage took the lead on the half hour mark with Michael Bostwick pouncing on an error by the stockport keep. stevenage doubled there lead just before half time with Giles Sunu scoring his first goal for the club. A comfortable win never look like loosing.

Aldershot 2-1 Stevenage

Aldershot took the lead in the 1st half which was deserved, but strat of the 2nd half a penelty by Andy Whing levels the game. With both sides pushing for the win a late goal by Aldershot gave them a win which they rightfully deserved.

Stevenage 0-1 Crewe

A very tough game but im still disappointed that we didnt come away with anything especially after we looked the most dangerous. Another Defeat though but i would of taken my current league position at the start of the month.

End of the Month Press Conference

Reporter
What do you think of your team performances and why havent you brought in any permanent signings?

I am very happy with the teams performances so far this season all i can is hope for it to continue. We haven't made any permanent signings because there was no top quality players available with the funds we had.

Reporter

Do you think your team will stay up if u dont bring in anymore signings this season?

I have every bit of confidence in the current team that we can do better than what the pundits believe, there will be alot of shocks this season and thats a promise

Reporter

How will you handle the pressure if results start goin against you?

what ever the results the job is full of pressure and if im honest i love that factor as it would be a boring job otherwise.

No more questions thank you!

September Update

Hereford 0-1 Stevenage

The pressure Stevenage were putting on Hereford finally paid off when John Akinde scored just before half time to put Stevenage 1 up. The 2nd half stayed the same until the last 5 minutes were Hereford were doing all the attacking but they still wasn’t able to put on back in the net.

Stevenage 1-1 Bury

Stevenage were caught cold in the first 10 mins with bury going 1 up. Stevenage brings it back all square with Andy Whing scoring again. Somehow we finished the half level which is a surprise with bury doin all the attacking. The 2nd half wasn’t a patch on the 1st and the game finishes 1-1.

Morcambe 4-0 Stevenage

Morcambe took the lead on 31 seconds yes seconds but it was controversially given. Morcambe doubled there lead on 18mins with a free kick on the edge of the box.. Morcambe make it 3-0 on 20 mins no way back for Stevenage. Morcambe completed the scoring on the 85th minute. It seemed like Stevenage were only there to make up the numbers.

Stevenage 1-5 Gillingham

Gillingahm take the lead with a poacher’s goal and soon double it from a corner. The Stevenage team seems like they are still hung over from their heavy defeat on Saturday. Gillingahm make it 3 nil just before half time. Gillingham score straight after the re-start to make it 4-0. Stevenage has come down with a mighty back after their suburb start. Peter Winn gets on back for Stevenage but only for Gillingham to go up the other end to make it 5-1. Another Heavy defeat all I can say is things have to get better.

Wycombe 2-1 Stevenage

Wycombe take the lead on 5 mins with a brilliantly worked goal. Wycombe doubled their lead on 31 mins with a free kick from the edge of the area. Stevenage pulled one back with an excellent effort from Stacey Long on 61 mins. Stevenage were knocking on the Wycombe door for the last 10 mins but just couldn’t find the opening, but a much better performance from Stevenage.

Barnet 0-0 Stevenage

A boring game but it’s a sign that the Stevenage players are starting to up their game.

No one this month deserved player of the month as on one stood out and as for goals a 4 –way tie.

Current League Position 18th

Unlucky mate. At least it's good to see a proper honest story were your team has actually lost a few times. Good luck mate.

a few times we got played off the park but i can only turn it all around. cheers mate hope you will keep following and see if i can take them to Wembley.

October Update

Stevenage 1-0 Lincoln

Stevenage went 1 -0 up after just 3 mins through a brilliant individual effort from Gilles Sunu. Stevenage went on to win the game 1-0 but it wasn’t goin to impress the fans, but they cant moan its 3 points on the board.

Wycombe 0-0 Stevenage

We lost on penalties but we cant moan it’s a sign of improvement when just two weeks ago we were getting hammered by teams. My change in formation looks like it mite b just about working.

Oxford 0-0 Stevenage

After a dull 1st half the game came to life in the 2nd with Stevenage captain Michael Bostwick being shown a yellow card with 20 mins to go. This let Oxford push for a winner which they should of gotten im sure Stevenage are in that dressing room now wondering how they held one.

Stevenage 1-0 Chesterfield

6 mins into the game and Gilles Sunu capitalises on a goalkeeping howler to tap in from close range. Again another boring game with not a lot happening, but another win for Stevenage with a clean sheet to follow.

Rotherham 1-0 Stevenage

I game which was looking like a draw until a 90th minute strike, which had the whole Stevenage team claiming offside. A brilliant performance again by the Stevenage team, just need, to keep going for 90 mins. Unfortunately aswel Chris Day has conceded after going 508 minutes without
