Hi, ive started a file with non-league Gloucester City with my goal being to eventually be England manager via European success. I have started the game with 3 leagues England, Spain and Italy. To the game:

First of all I notice - Im Skint! A wage budget of 4k per week with a target of avoiding relegation. Immediately i terminate the load of my goalkeeper Mike Green as I couldnt afford his 350 per week wages.

Looking throughout my squad I realise it is simply far from good enough to even avoid relegation. I play 3-5-2 as my new assistant, Brian Caswell, suggests. To give the squad more depth I sign Ian *** (36 year old CB), Darren Garner (35 year old CM), Gareth Stewart (29 year old GK and Aaron Moses-Garvey (21 year old ST).

Needless to say these were all on free transfers. I also signed Charlie Austin (doing well in real life) on loan for the season from Swindon, Darren Barnard from Camberly on a free and Julian Alsop on loan from local rivals Cheltenham.

I arranged friendlies with Milwall and Reading to help give us a cash boost.

The Season:

Started poorly not winning until thr 7th game 2-1 at home to Telford. This was followed up with 2 0-0 away draws and a win at home to Workington to leave us handily placed in 14th.

However, we lost in the 2nd round of FA Cup qualifying to Chippenham which proved a disaster. We needed a cup run for money and the board certainly werent happy!

Following on from this we only won 1 out of out next 7 league games , 2-0 away at Gainsborough, to leave us in 19th, one place above relegation. We also lost in thr FA Trophy 4-1 against Hampton & Richmond (3rd Qual Round)

A 2-1 win at home against Gainsborough om 28.11.09 left in 18th position, 4 points above relegation.

After this a shocking run of 3 points out of 30 left us in 21st place, 3 points off safety. Ilkeston were proping up the league. Our main rivals were Farsley, Hyde, Stalybridge, Vauxhall and Stafford.

With finances tight (now insecure 105k in debt), I needed to turn to loan signings for help. Austin had scored a respectable 12 goals in 26 but other then that nobody was scoring. Barnard, Alsop, Moses- Garvey were all flops. I signed Max Porter, Charlie Clough, and Ben Swallow on loan from Rushden and Bristol Rovers (last 2) and Porter and Clough were inspired in my centre midfield.

Their arrivals coincided with 4 wins out of 7 against my rivals Farsley, Vauxhall and Stalybridge. The other result was a suprise win away at Alfreton. This left me 7 points off relegation with my rivals struggling. I should also point out Farsley and Northwich started with -10 points. Another good away win at Hinckley all but secured Safety. A 1-0 home win at home to Corby with 4 games to go confirmed it. Farsley, Hyde and Ilkeston all went down.

With my loan signings going back I knew I had to strengthed for the upcoming season. However with my target of fighting against relegation and a wage bill of 3.8k I knew this was going to be a struggle. I let my WHOLE squad go other then: Gareth Stewart, Ian ***, Neil Mustoe, Aaron Moses-Garvey and Michael Symons.

In came Charlie Clough and Max Porter who were released by their clubs.
I also signed:

Nathan D'Laryea
Nathan Peat
Shane Killock
Ricky Mercer
Danny Williams
Abdou EL Kholiti
Jon Adams
Ross Gardner
Jordan Hall
Gavin Mccallum
Steve Torpey
Lewis Mcmahon
Craig Dundas
Jake Lee

I dont intend to manage in the lower leagues for long so hopefully these players can make us push for promotion this season. To help improve out 125k debt I arranged friendlies against Sheffied United + Wednesday, Bristol City and West Brom. Needless to say we got stuffed in all of them but out debt has been reduced to 80k.

Ive just started the 2010/2011 season with a 1-0 at home to Cambridge City. We have been moved to Blue Square South instead of Blue Square North for this season. I will update again when I next play!

Thanks, Luigi

Good idea, Good luck, Be a great achivement if you do it (Y)

i dont know many of those signings, steve torpey should score for fun at that level and d laryea is ex man city so he should be half decent, good luck im following

I rated this excellent :) You seem to have worked hard so hope you you do well :)

I once got the England job after one season managing in the Premier League (keeping Pompey up), and then, after wanting a new challenge, taking over at Leicester in the Championship with them bottom and failing to keep them up. In that summer, the job became available and I thought 'Why not?!' And I got it- so i was a League One team manager but a top international manager too!!

Good luck and keep up the hard work. D'Laryea is great I had him for my Vauxhall save on '09 :) ;)

Nice idear to try and get that england job like that but for that to happen i think you would need back to back promotions or atleast a few to get yourself noticed in the game. I would recommed trying to get the Striker (Jamie mole) on loan from hearts he bagged me 26 goals in 20 games on one of my saves that was only have the season aswell i'll be followoing !

Good read mate. Any screenshots? (H)

May i ask if you can send a screenshot of the previos season league table. I want to see how Blyth did. Good luckthough mate, BTW i believe that the BSS is harder to get out of than the BSN. Good luck anyway.

Good luck, I live in Gloucester :P : you offloaded the whole squad? You should of kept Alex Sykes.

Hi, in response to comments... D'Laryea looks good he started off well so far. Torpey is a winger so he isnt the star striker i need Joe!!. Maybe its a different Torpey youre thinking of. I plan to leave Gloucester as soon as I get a decent job offer whether that be at another conference south/north club is irrelevent to me. To the person who suggested Jamie Mole im Gloucester manager!!! I certaintly cant attract anyone that good!. Thanks for the good luck messages I will put up screenshots when I can put my laptop online. Alex Sykes was shocking by the way!

Blyth finished 6th last season one place off the play-offs. This season they are 21st and struggling financially too. Thanks for the good luck messages. while im here i will update:

Following our 1-0 win on the opening day we proceeded to go another 4 games unbeaten 2-0,0-0,1-0 and 2-0. So after 5 games we had 13 points without conceding a goal. Our first loss at Dover (1-0), was followed by a 1-0 home win against Farnborough to leave us 4th. A shocking 5-1 away defeat at Braintree set us back but we managed to qualify for the F.A cup 3rd round with a 3-0 at home to Tiverton (3rd round Qual). We then drew and lost our next 2 games against Lewes and Maidstone and then got knocked out of the F.A cup in a shocking 1-0 defeat away at Enfield. This is where im up to. Ive also released Ian *** to reduce the wage bill. Our attendence average is 324 which is dreadful.

This is why Im looking to leave ASAP to further my career. However my reputation is currently set at 'unproven'. The managerial jobs at Nuneaton and Tamworth (both Blue Square North strugglers but bigger clubs then Gloucester) could become available soon so I will apply.

I am currently 10th, 2 points off the play-offs. The board are delighted with me and I am 'very secure' at Gloucester. I have also brought in Nathan Livings and Rob Sissions on loan from Bristol City and Coventry to give my squad extra depth. I will update soon, Luigi

Ok, sorry about the lack of update. I have completed quite a lot since the last update so I will carry on now...

Gloucester 2nd season:

After a relatively good start, my season descended into mid-table mediocracy. I was knocked in the F.A trophy 3rd qual round so didnt achieve any cup success either. I finished 14th on 54 points. Our financial situation was poor however. 350k in debt, I released many players off the wage bill to give me room to wheel and deal again in pre-season. This then left me with a squad of 7 players and a wage bill of 1k a week. To start off my 3rd season I was offered a wage budget of 1.9k a week and another battle against relegation as my expectation. That was enough for me.

I resigned as Gloucester City manager as I didnt see any progress. In the upcoming 6 months I rejected job offers from Drolysden and Eastwood to hold out for a more ambitious club. In January 2012 I was offered the job as Nuneaton Town manager. I immediately accepted as I saw a club with average attendences of 800 and a higher reputable club. This was immediately obvious by the players I could attract. My brief was to keep Nuneaton up in the first season, which I comfortably did by 7 points.

Now to the 2012/2013 season: Again my was budget was set at a shocking 2k a week which was thoroughly frustrating yet understandable considering we are 400k in debt.

In came: Jerson Dos Santos, Keith Briggs, Graeme Armstrong, Ryan Johnson, Adam Radcliffe (loan from Leicester), Robert Thomas (loan from coventry) and Stephen Kirby (loan from Notts County).

I retained a lot of the squad from the previous season as I felt they were good enough to get us in the promotion hunt for the season. I had also signed Marc Richards on a free (ex Port Vale striker), Craig Baxter and Doug Loft.

My expectation was to achieve a respectable league position, I feel we have a good chance of play offs with the squad.

We started off very well with 10 points from out 1st 4 games. This was followed by a mini slump of 2 defeats to leave us 8th. Frustratingly we got knocked out of the FA cup in the 2nd qual round again (not very suucessful in cups!!) to 21st placed Hinckley. However we did beat 'major rivals' Bedworth 8-0 which went down well with the fans. This was in the FA Trophy, we also beat Havant & Waterlooville to set up a 2nd round tie with top of the conference Kettering.

At present it is Jan 1st 2013 and we lie 5th in the Conference North, 6 points off top. I have been linked with the Stockport Job, which I would certainlly take if offered. At the press conference I declined to comment.

My Game:

Somethings that have happened in the game:

Yeovil are in Blue Square South
Leeds are back in the Prem
Notts County top the Championship
Stockport in the Conference/ Derby in league One

Will update/ add screenshots soon. Luigi

I am liking this, i live about 10 mins from Meadow Park

mate this would be mega if you could do that.
tough start, and it'll be a struggle but you can do it.
my mate guided havant and waterlooville up to the premiership on a very tight budget, and his record attendance in the premiership was 697 lol. do you plan on taking this non league team all the way or will you change team if the chance comes?
