Is this possible? I usually sign young players <18 on a full time contract and put them in the U18 teams, but because they are on a full time contract 'x' amount is being put into match prep, which is annoying.

Why is it that you want them to be without match prep?
Surely it helps them work well with the rest of your team, and if you do have to call them into the first team in times of injury crisis or for cup games etc, they'll be fully accustomed to your formation and the style of play.

Although in actual answer to your question, unfortunately I've never seen a way to stop people having those pre-allocated training slots.

Couldnt agree more also I make my reserves and under 18 use my tactic and formation so I think match prep is key to them playing your style.
