Fullbacks not crossing/Long shot problems

Anyone had the above issues? I've tried all sorts of settings: Fullback, Wingback, Complete Wingback (and all duties too, attack, support and defend), even Limited Fullback.

I've set my tactics to "Look for Overlap", which the team does pretty well. The players hold the ball and wait for the fullback to gallop down the flank, pass the ball to him, only to watch him cut it back to the midfielder at the edge of the box, who fires wide/into a mess of bodies/on target but keeper makes a terrific save.

And that's with Pogba as my CM (with 19 Long Shots, 13 Finishing, 17 Technique). Which comes to the second part of my question. Pogba hasn't scored a single goal from outside the box for me. Then I'm on the receiving end of a long shot by a player with 9 in Long Shots, and it goes in. Anyone has issues like these?

I know it sounds like a rant, and to a small extent it is (the long shot bit).

I'd like to know, though, how do you guys set up your fullbacks to cross.

I'm playing Man United with Alex Sandro and Rafael as the first choice fullbacks. Both have a crossing of 16.
 
Hey buddy. I'm having the same problems as you. Got Pogba as my DLP (support) and he fires these long shots every game that go freakin' everywhere. My fullbacks gallop down to the touch line and then decide to then pass it back to the bloke hovering outside midfield so he can take a speculate shot into a sea of bodies.

Most perplexing stuff. I'm still new to this year's FM so hopefully I'll be able to tweak it out.

What's annoying is that as DLP, I can't even tell Pogba to decrease the amount of long-shots he takes. They're gone for realism this year by removing the sliders, but how is not being able to tell my player to cut down on long shots realistic?

BTW, how has RVP been for you?

Hey man, great to know I'm not the only one facing this problem! I've found that the team instruction "Work ball into box" really makes them opt for the pass instead of the cross. Turning it off improved the number of crosses marginally, but I'm still looking for more crosses into the box.

Unfortunately for the Pogba thing, I haven't found a way to get him to stop shooting. Not that I mind though, I think his 19 Long Shot should give him a much better chance at the goal than he currently has. I mean, he's got 17 for Technique and 13 for Finishing! Shouldn't that affect long shot accuracy as well (in a positive way)?

As for RVP, he's been pretty decent for me. Nothing on the irl RVP of course, but I play him as a deep lying forward anyway, with Rooney/Kagawa as a shadow striker, to burst from deep and finish off his through balls. He's injured half the time though :/

Make that 3/4. Terribly injury-prone, which is completely not in line with his recent fitness. But maybe I'm just unlucky.

Sold him to Barcelona for 30m at the end of the first season :) Saved 120k on wages by buying Eriksen to rotate with Kagawa and playing Wazza as the DLF.
 
I've never had much great experiences with long shots in any of the FM's, regardless of their long shot stats and technique. The long-shot conversion rate is crazy low in FM.

I've turned off "keep possession" and that's helped me with my CCC's. I might try turning off work ball into box also - I had initially turned it on in the hopes that they wouldn't try as many long shots.
 
Longshot accuracy is calculated using the other shooting stats like finishing and composure too... That's why midfielders spoon them everywhere.
 
Well Pogba's got 13 Finishing, 19 Long Shot, 17 Technique, 13 Composure and 14 Decision.

If long shot is affected by the Finishing attribute, then does the Long Shot attribute only determine how likely he is to shoot from distance, and not actual long shot accuracy? In that case the Long Shot attribute sucks :P

If not, then there's no reason it should be affected by the Finishing attribute, seeing how the Finishing attribute is just a measure of shooting accuracy.

And honestly, doesn't 13 Finishing and 13 Composure warrant at least a couple of goals a season?! :/
 
Long shots is what's really doing my head in this year. That's saying something, considering all the other stuff like strikers not knowing how to finish 1v1.

Having players with the long shot trait ruins any sort of build up play you get going. This is definitely something FM needs to fix. I have 3 players with the long shot trait, and they're so busy popping off long shots my striker doesn't get a sniff of the ball.

I got off three shots in the box, because my players decided that they wanted to go for glory every time they caught sight of the net.
