Game after game?

I don't know if i'm alone in this but when I do get a good game going, I start off really well and the team fizzles out near the end of the season, then by the following season, all I do is seem to lose and draw. Now I have three different tactics that switch with throughout the season, and maintain the training in area's where required, I'm just not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any FM guru's advice will be most welcome?

If you overachieved in the previous season the other teams will adapt to your tactics.

No they don't. It's basically about reputation. If you're an underdog, teams are going to attack more and throw more players forward. With you over-achieving, they realise that you're not as weak as they thought, so they're more cautious and keeping more players back.
