Gazza named Tottenham manager.

SkySports can today reveal Tottenham's search for a manager has ended after Chairman Daniel Levy appointed Paul Gascoigne as manager. Gascoigne, 42, released a statement suggesting his shock at the approach but it was an offer he ''simply couldn't refuse''. Known as 'Gazza' on the lips of the nation, last managed Kettering Town in 2005 but it came to a disappointing end after just 39 days due to his alcoholic problems. Tottenham Chairman Levy says the appointment of Gascoigne will bring a breath of fresh air into the club and is looking forward to the near future.

Transfers In;
Being given a transfer budget of £7million for a continental finish, Gascoigne was able to bring in a few young faces, suggesting he will be aiming to make the club into a so-called 'big 4' team in the near future with such hot prospects coming through. Bringing Lacina Traore in for £1.5million, Scotland's Danny Wilson for £3million and loaning Stevan Jovetic for a fee of £4million from Fiorentina in a deal in which Gascoigne had to adjust the transfer budget with the wage budget accordingly. Seeing as the three new players aren't going to take a lot of wages, this seemed a suitable option.

Transfers Out;
Gazza lets Kyle Walker go out on loan to Sheffield United for some much needed first team experience.

A lot of effort and thought has been put into this, hopefully you should get in the top four. Youthful signings look interesting, hopefully Lacina Traore won't be spotted coming out of the Bargain Booze with a special bag for Gazza. Will follow...

I recently had a Tottenham save. Sign gabby agbonlahor, epic mate. But good luck with this i will follow!

Gazza reveals captain for the season.
As the new season gets nearer, with usual captain Robbie Keane out on loan to Celtic, newly appointed Tottenham boss, Paul Gascoigne was left with the task of handing over the armband to a suitable replacement within the Tottenham squad. He revealed today that he will be putting his faith in Luka Modric to captain the side through the season after a very impressive pre-season as stand-in captain. The man responsible for the job of being vice-captain will be Ledley King.

Pre-Season;

Easy pre-season for Spurs.
Three more than comfortable wins for new boss Gazza. With new signing Stevan Jovetic showing why he was brought to White Hart Lane for the season with 2 brilliant goals. Lacina Traore and Danny Wilson also got run-outs, but failed to make a big impact with average performances. Tottenham passed the ball well at quite a slow tempo with lots of width using Lennon's pace and Kranjcar's crossing ability. Modric bossed the midfield with Palacios and Huddlestone both making of the most of their time alongside the Croatian in the more defensive midfield role.

Player of pre-season: Jermaine Defoe.
The English striker bagged an impressive 9 goals across the 3 pre-season friendlies picking up player of the pre-season, going into the Premier League season in top form.

'Gazza's position as Tottenham boss starts today' - Levy.
Tottenham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy has told Spurs fans that Paul Gascoigne's reign as manager of the club will start properly today. Having seen successful results throughout pre-season without conceding a single goal and scoring quite heavily, Levy is confident Gascoigne will be a success but has warned a drastic slip in the league could spell the end.

August 2009.
Sunderland host Tottenham in the opening day of the new Premier League season. Spurs' fans will be hoping for a dream start for their new manager Gascoigne.
Paul Gascoigne has decided to play a simple 4-4-2 with fast wingers who like to dribble and cross the ball, in Aaron Lennon and Niko Kranjcar. Packing the midfield is tireless Croatian midfielder Luka Modric with Palacios prefered to Huddlestone to occupy the defensive role needed for balance. Ever-present full-backs Corluka and Assou-Ekotto keep their place either side of Bassong and vice-captan King. Up top see's goal machine Defoe start alongside Peter Crouch.

Sunderland 2 - 5 Tottenham
First day nerves settle for Gascoigne as his Spurs side came out on top in a 7 goal thriller. Most of the goals came in the second half with the two teams walking into the tunnel at half-time with the score 1-1. Jermain Defoe opened the scoring for Tottenham (who else?) with a curling shot from 25yards layed off by Kranjcar. Half time approached quickly and Gazza knew he had to improve to pull a win out of the bag against a resiliant Sunderland. Changes were made to the right hand side of the midfield with Bentley coming in for Lennon and asked to cross the ball from deep as he isn't the fastest of wingers. Gascoigne stuck with Palacios even though the Honduras midfielder wasn't having the best of games. The second half saw the goalkeepers both picking the ball out of the net a few times, to Spurs' fans delight, more so the Sunderland goalkeeper Gordon. Palacios put Tottenham ahead before Benjani equilized for the hosts. With Spurs going for a more attacking approach, Modric put them back infront before Defoe got his second of the game with a chip over the 'keeper. Modric finished the game with a penalty on the 82nd minute.

Tottenham 1 - 1 Wigan
Paul Gascoigne took charge of his first home game against a Wigan side who set up very defensive minded, 4-5-1. Wingers restricted from getting forward to help out the full-backs with the pace and skill of Spurs' wingers Lennon and Kranjcar. However, Marcelo Moreno gave the visitors the lead with Tottenham pushing to find that vital first goal just after half-time, Wigan counter attacked and scored. Spurs were ready to make a sub when Assou-Ekotto was brought off injured with a gashed leg, forcing Gascoigne into making a like-for-like change at left back giving Danny Wilson his Premier League debut. Tottenham pushed on and shortly after Moreno's goal for Wigan came that man again Jermain Defoe with a header from a Niko Kranjcar cross. With a penalty shout turned down, Spurs pushed on and the game went deep into injury time with 4 minutes being added on but either side failed to score. Gascoigne feels his side were robbed of 2 points and got a warning from the FA for his behaviour.

League Cup - Round 2

Scunthorpe 1 - 2 Tottenham
Scunthorpe hosted Tottenham in the League Cup 2nd Round on the 25th August. Danny Wilson fills in at left back for the injured Assou-Ekotto, with other changes coming in across the team including Pavylchenko getting his first start under Gascoigne alongside newly signed youngster Lacina Traore. Bentley is prefered on the wing to give Aaron Lennon a rest and Huddlestone starts in midfield instead of Palacios. It was quite a comfortable victory for Spurs, as Modric escaped the midfield man marking and made a forward run to receive a through ball from Lacina Traore, who had held the ball up to finish it in the corner. The second goal of the game also went Tottenham's way with Pavylchenko making a point to Gazza by scoring a 20yard effort on 61 minutes. A few changes to the tactics were made with Gascoigne's side going from an attacking force to keeping possesion in their own half. A slip of concentration from the Spurs defence allowed Grant McCann to score a nothing but a consolation goal for Scunthorpe seconds before the final whistle went.

Tottenham 1 - 0 West Ham
Gascoigne's second game in charge at home was hopeful of being a positive result after his last was a disappointing draw to Wigan. The Tottenham side see's four changes to the side that beat Scunthorpe in the League Cup. With
Crouch, Defoe, Lennon all returning and Jovetic making his White Hart Lane debut. Shortly after half-time with no changes made to the starting 11, Jovetic ran the West Ham right back ragged from the left side of midfield before putting in Modric for a shot that rocketed into the top corner, following another great burst through the opposition defence from Modric. The game turned into a midfield battle with no chances created or no sight of flair from either side leaving the game to run out a 1-0 win for the hosts.

Good results, like to see results against a "top 4" side. Keep the faith in Crouch, he scored 41 in 42 on one of my games. Detailed match reports with appropriate pictures make this a good read.

Thanks for following and nice one on the Crouchy advice, he just isn't working at the minute but hopefully he will pull it off with a tweak in the tactics. Cheers. :D
