Hi,
This year on FM I haven't had much success at creating tactics (as you may have been able to tell by my numerous help threads).
In the first patch I managed to win the league and got to the final of the champions league playing on the counter with Chelsea. Due to exams, I haven't been able to play much more.
They are now over though, and I'm struggling to create anything decent on this new patch. So, any help would be appreciated. I have made three attempts at tactics, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
With Liverpool I tried to recreate the high goalscoring trend of in real life, whilst playing possession-based football: no success.
With Arsenal, I tried to play a high tempo, short passing, attacking style. I had limited success, but lost too many games against average opponents, and my defence was an abomination (playing with offside trap, without offside trap, centre cover and stopper, then defend and defend, then much higher, then higher).
With Chelsea, I have now tried to recreate the counter-attacking style and it's simply not working: I don't know how to create a really solid tactic that works against weaker teams, then another similar style tactic that works against strong/stronger teams.
My general tactic creation is poor. Any advice on the Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea philosophy would be much appreciated. I am a manager that likes to create a very solid defence. I haven't been able to find the right balance between attack and defence in FM14 yet. In contrast, last year I was winning the Champions League with Rangers.
Thanks,
Aidan
