Genie scout?..yes I know!

So this year's Genie scout.....Anyone used it?

I just started a mess about season to take a break from my real one! So for my mess about season I am using genie scout.

I find a few issues with it:

1: You look up a player and it tells you, you could buy that player for "X" amount but when I offer "X+" amount to that club for that player... they come back, saying they want ?20 million!, for example. Genie scout to be bang on the money for being accurate, not at all this year!

2: a 198PA regen looks like sh*t when shown what he will/could look like at max potential! For example it shows such a player with only like 3 stats above 16!(It shows he will hit full potential, 198/198 no injuries hampering his development) This is the same for most regens I have come across. Once again doesn't seem too accurate!


So my question, again, anyone used it this year and find the same issues??

Used it once two-three years ago but ruins all fun in the game for me and takes the fun away from finding your own regens!

Never really use it, its downloaded and installed and rarely gets opened anymore... and i'm running a team in every continent, I always read the value/ask price is bugged. The potential click and see what he could be is good, but i rarely see a potentional with a high possiblity percentage.

First issue is due to the changes in the game, no longer is the a set value for a player, it depends on many factors such as rivals in the same league, how much a club needs money, how rich the club you buy from thinks you are. There's way more to it than this. Before it was just a simple set value for every club. Eugene is however improving the accuracy with each release.

Second issue. First make sure your genie and game are both the latest version. Secondly bare in mind CA/PA is just a collection of stats out of 200. You can have a regen with 200CA but he may be a defender with 20 finishing or long throws. Use the customisable stat weights and /or role ratings instead. You may find the best rated players in the game sometimes only have 160CA but have stats in the right places.

The thing I always look out for are the hidden stats such as player consistency and important matches. Luckily you can add the importance of these stats yourself using custom stat weights so you don't end up with an inconsistent team or fail in the important games.

When I was looking at the possibility of using genie scout, I read that the potential shown is based on a standard training at the club he is at. i.e at a club with better facilities and better training those values would change. Also, each year of training should improve the reliability of how the stats will change. As training will change focus during the years too, also different stats develop at different ages. So % for older/developed players looked like it was fine but for younger players PA seemed more important? I'm not sure though, I did look it up at the time but that was a while ago.

I always use Genie Scout & it helps me a lot since FM has become a very scripted game in recent years. Its been a very accurate tool from what i have experienced. The whole transfer system is one big mess this year that lacks balance & that is why the tool is not 100% accurate like before when it comes to player value/selling price. As for regens i think the tool is accurate just that its impossible to reach max potential because training seems to be a little out of place this year. I do not get how a player at a young age like 19-24, a starter, high morale & on good form would have his stats drop. The training reports never make sense. Yes i got the best facilities, coaches & keep them fit so why they do not develop with a regular pattern i do not know. There is no logic to training & player development & that explains why regens do not max out as you want

I have found that almost always players reach their potential according to genie fine.

I'm not sure how it calculates potential attributes though, especially with the flexibility of the new training.

I do however regard it more accurate than the game itself, you may find a young player with a high pa, but if they don't already have default stats in the right places, no matter how much custom development you throw at them they may not become the player you want.

One thing I've found is every player is different, they seem to peak this year dynamically. Don't give up on a player if he is 27 and undeveloped, I've seen some peak a lot older.

Player potential doesn't change based on the players club or facilities, it's a set amount.

The genie donate version has a calculation sum called probability of development which uses info like that. If you read about the feature, you will see it's based upon stats like personality, professionalism, determination etc which may be why you aren't seeing players develop?

One thing I have found is 5 star coaches are rare this year and that probably doesn't aid development

I've not really been using it much this year, i always get it, install and it sits there from some reason.. i really should use it more, my scouts suck.. lol
