Hmm, that article needs to be placed in perspective though.

Bayern are fantastic commercially - but that's because they dominate the German leagues. They got full ownership of their stadium very, very cheaply. They're able to offer cheap tickets because they maintained standing areas in their stadiums.

Bayern's model isn't new - they've had it for a while. Essentially the club is divided into two. There's the commercial side and the football side with the commercial side having former players who went into business sitting next to top executives from leading German companies. Problem has been that this has actually led to those former players (Beckenbauer springs to mind) also demanding a say in the playing side and destabilising the club there.

So while Bayern is financially stable, it's not a stable football club by any stroke of the imagination. And looking to it as a model for anything other than how one club can dominate totally in almost every commercial aspect within one country isn't really much use to those who wish to see a more competitive league which doesn't rely on the commercially dominant club not being totally fruitcake when it comes to managerial and playing decisions.
