In the past i have activated the real German team, but since i updated to the current fm update i am no longer able to do this, i have even tried to find the files on my laptop but no luck i am using steam version of fm2011, can anyone help???

Go to

Program Files>Steam>Steamapps>common>football manager 11>data>updates>update-1130>db>1130>inc>all

Delete on files in the inc folder. This is to delete files for the 11.3 patch when using steam.

Aftter you did what Jack Fulham said, you will have to start a new game for it to take effect.
