Recently i chanced upon a thread on the SI forums about tweaking the WM to behave like an IF. Quite a bit of discussion back and forth about the benefits of using a WM to behave like an IF such as better defensive solidity down the flanks, but what intrigued me was when someone posted an image of his WM scoring 30 goals with 25 assists!

So i have gone about giving my WM with the instructions to cut inside and get further forward but the results have not been promising. I sort of find even-footed WMs to perform better than odd-footed WMs when given such instructions although it goes against the theory of cutting inside onto the opposite foot. Has anyone managed to get their WMs to score goals for them?

Im using Juan Mata as a wide Playmaker in the WM position and its quite promising. He drifts in from the flank into thw space behind the forwards and pings nice passes around. He doesnt score many, or even bag loads of assists at the minute but Im still tweaking. ME seems to struggle against it especially with an overlapping full back on the same side.

I noticed that with my wm as well. They do lots of probing in and around the space in front of the opp defence but not many in terms of goals and assists. Acting more of as a support base for attacks to happen rather than as the trigger.
