Getting the best out of Van der Vaart?

He's been dire so far for me and I cannot seem to get the best out of him for my Tottenham in the first season.

What postition and role should I use him in for maximum effectivness? As atm Kranjcar is outshining him by a mile.

play him in AMC Trequartista Attack

i couldnt agree more, i use 4-3-1-2 and play him right side cm (full creative freedom) i got sandro in cm (defensive) and modric left side cm (attacking)

1st season van der vaart scored 16 in 39 games avg 7.53 (not even team player of the yr)

I agree with Catta.. Amazing in AMC Trequartisa for me, set him on long shots often and he'll bang them in for you

Another vote for CM - Advanced Playmaker.
I played him on a support role though, suppose he could do better for me, but in big games in the first couple of seasons, if I needed a goal late on, it was almost always him that brought out the goods. I played him in with Palacios who I let sit back, give Rafa more room to do his thing. And make sure he's taking your free kicks, scores a hat full for me

Having said that, he does work well playing AMC - Attacking Midfielder - Attack too, that seems to fit his stats really well.

AMC attacking mid - Attack, set his run with ball to mixed and make sure at least one of the MC's behind is a playmaker for supply

I had him as a AMC - Adv playmaker support with modric as MC Adv playmaker attack -- found it got the best out of them both, and they each had loads of assists at the end of my first season (15ish for Mod, 20+ for Rafa)
