Getting your own son

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, I am not totally savvy around forums in general.
A couple of things I wanted to ask you guys and hopefully you can clarify for me.
I remember in former FMs you had to unlock the "son" generating in game and be playing classic.

My questions:
- In FM18 can you be playing normal? Not classic or touch.
- Do you get him via youth intake?
- How do I go about this anyway?

In general, you just have to be over 34yrs of age and randomly you will get your son in one of your youth intakes

Update on getting your own son: I FINALLY JUST GOT MY OWN SON

Literally after trying for maybe a collective amount of 8-12 hours of reloading FM, I FINALLY GOT MY SON IN A YOUTH INTAKE. The relief... was immeasurable....
