I have decided to start a fresh new game as Gillingham.
I have never written a story on here and I thought it would be quite fun and wanted to give it a go!

Please follow my progress through my regular posts and feel free to comment.

First step... New assistant manager

The first thing I always do and would advise anyone to do is hire a better assistant, particularly one with high attributes in judging player ability. When I started the guy that was in was only a '6' so he has gone and in comes John Murtough who is unemployed.

His judgment is much better at 15 and he will help me create a promotion worthy squad.
I am sure me and John will form a great a friendship and partnership at the club.

3 Released...

The squad shaping has begun but in order to get players in I need to let some go.
Dennis Oli, Matt Fish and Nick Southall have all been released to free up some wages.

I wish all three the best for the future.

Setting The Foundations...

I am really starting to set the foundations for hopefully a good season by working hard on the training pitch with the boys and my new back room staff.

I have bought in several new coaches, each one with decent attributes in their specialist areas.

FIRST SIGNINGS IN...

Gillingham and their manager are pleased to announce the signings of two new loan signings who will be staying for the entire season.

I am pleased to announce the loan signings of Josh Carson and Andy Doorman on loan from Ipswich and Crystal Palace respectively. Carson is a young exciting player and should give me something going forward and a bit of flair. Doorman is more experienced and should prove to be a good solid player for me in the middle of the park.

Hope to add a few more faces yet over the next few weeks.

The Gills Continue To Strengthen...

In my last update of the day I am delighted to add another two signings to my team which is really starting to take shape now.

View attachment 249143View attachment 249144

I have now made it four new faces by making two permanent signings this time. I have snapped up veteran striker Kevin Lisbie from Leyton Orient for 5K and am delighted to announce the signing of 22 year old, James Wilson. The centre back from Bristol City was attracting attention from some much bigger clubs so I am delighted to get him for a fee of 10K.

My side is really starting to take shape now and I have managed to create a good mix of youth and experience.
I have also shipped striker Stefan Payne out on loan to Cambridge. He is a young player with decent potential so this move should help him and it also frees up some more wages for other players.

Tomorrow's update will feature my pre-season roundup.

Pre - Season Round up

My Pre - Season fixtures consisted of six friendlies against a mixed set of teams.Overall I was delighted with the way the boys applied themselves and it has given me confidence for the rest of the season.

We notched up four wins, with one draw and one defeat.

I was pleased with the win over Chesterfield who were promoted from League Two last season. I was pleased with the other three wins too where the youngsters showed they have got decent potential. The standout result has to be the 1-1 draw with Liverpool though with us leading until the 85th minute.

This pre season has given plenty of cause for optimism and the boys and raring to go now.

More New Faces...

In recent weeks I have added some more new faces to my squad as we look to get out of League Two.

In addition to Doorman, Carson, Lisbie and John I have now added four new players, again with a mix of youth and experience.

I have added Ben Thatcher on a free the former Welsh International at LB. I have also signed youngster Sam Hoskins from Southampton for 1K.

I have also dipped back into the loan market to sign Ignasi Miquel and Akwasi Asante on season long loans from Arsenal and Birmingham. Hopefully Miquel will shore up the back while Asante will get me some goals.

August 2011

Our first month has been a mixed bag with some good and some bad performances.
We picked up a total of seven points in the the first five games leaving us in 9th.
However in addition to this we have also been knocked out of two cup competitions.

Our two wins came against Torquay and Shrewsbury and I will be hoping for more of the same.
Luke Rooney has been particularly impressive picking up the young player of the month award.

Next update will be at the end of the next month.

September 11

September has been a month from ****. With us picking up just the one point right at the end of the month. Form which sees us in the relegation places. With morale at an all time low I have tried to use the loan market to bring in some fresh faces to hopefully turn the season around.

Coming in are...

I am not sure why the team has been performing so badly and we are only losing by the odd goal. Hopefully the point in the last game is a sign that things are changing. I am still searching for a couple of CB's to shore up the defence as the ones I have now are clearly not good enough.

October 2011

What a difference a month makes! The loan signings have blended with the squad have made a big difference. This month we picked up four wins out of six, with one defeat and one draw. We started the month brilliantly with a 4-0 win over Crewe with only ten men. However, a disappointing defeat to Port Vale was a step back. But the boys bounced back and are now unbeaten in four. We are now 12th in the table just six points outside the playoffs. View attachment 249380View attachment 249381View attachment 249382View attachment 249383View attachment 249385
Luke Rooney has again been impressive again winning the young player of the month award but I am also delighted with Reily who I signed as a free agent. He has been on fire this month and is forming a good partnership with John.View attachment 249386View attachment 249387

November 2011

November started well but has ended disappointingly for me and the boys. Out of the four games we have only managed to win the one and our currently on a three match losing streak.

Another long run of defeats could kill our season off even this early so I am fearful of that. With January coming up I will look to let some go and get some new players in but we need to stay in touch with the playoffs until the window opens.

Currently we are 14th 7 points off the playoffs.

December 2011

December has been another mixed month, with 2 wins and 2 defeats. We started the month brilliantly with a 5-2 win but then lost two on the bounce against Cheltenham then top of the table Swindon. We finished the month with a solid 2-0 win though and now with the transfer window open will be hoping for a good second half of the season.

At the halfway stage I am 15th but only 6 points outside the playoffs.

The start of the new year has once again seen us have an up and down month, winning 2, drawing 1 and losing 2.
We have finished the month strongly and so I hope that continues.

It has been a busy month with some players leaving and some coming in.

Gone are...

None of these players fitted into my plans and I needed the spare wages to get some fresh faces in. I thank them for their efforts and wish them all the best in the future.

To replace them I have added mostly loan signings as wages are tight.

Six new players could be why this month has been an inconsistent one as they will need time to blend. Although I have seen the benefits of the new players in the last three games of the month.

February 2011

February has been a good month but it really could of been even better.
Twice in the month we were left devastated when we let slip a 3-0 lead and then a 3-1 lead against Crawley and Northampton. There was a 1-0 win in there and another draw.

I'm delighted to be unbeaten in 6 but with 5 of them being draws it could be better. But at least it is a step in the right direction. We are now 11th four points outside the playoffs.

End Of Season 11/12

In a disastrous last month we have blown it and finish 14th. The players have let me down, drawing too many. If I keep my job changes will be made for next season. Just hope the fans stick with me.

Pre Season 2012

I have kept my job signing a new one year contract with the club. I have been busy getting in the loan players. The club offered me a measly 3K transfer budget but the wages are good. I have released the dead weight with 11 players leaving.

View attachment 249667

I have already signed a further seven, a mix of loan deals and permanent signings.

View attachment 249668

With these signings I think my midfield is now much stronger especially in the wide areas. I have again loaned Dilo the keeper who impressed me last season would still like to add another. With several central defenders joining it should help to tighten us up at the back and give us a platform to build on.

Performances have been decent pre season with three wins and a draw.

The boys look fit and ready for a better season than the last.

Front Trio Sign Up...

Just ahead of the start of the new season I have added three new faces to my attacking line up in the hope that they will change my fortunes in front of goal.

I have taken Gillingham favorite Cody mcDonald back on the loan. He played for us two seasons and go and scored 25 goals so I'm delighted to be able to welcome him back.

I have also signed Wes Fletcher a young striker from Burnley who scored goals in this division on loan for Accrington. He cost me 4K.

The third man to join the strike force is veteran striker Jermaine Easter. His talent is unquestionable and he should be great to have on the bench to chuck on when we need a goal.

I am really confident in our attacking abilities now, I would still like to find a defender and a GK and I think we will be ready for the new season.

Here are the threes player profiles.
