Hi, this is my first ever Football Manager story. I'm also relatively new to fm-base, however I have played Football Manager since Football Manager 2008. I love reading these stories, so I thought that i'd attempt one, any feedback will be appreciated, positive or negative. :D Just to note, I hadn't initially planned to make a story out of this, however it seemed unique enough, and i'm enjoying it, so now it is a story. This is why it's one season in. Right, onto the story...

Challenges:

+Win Gibraltarian Premier Division

Yes, that is quite a lot of targets, but they're definitely achievable

Glacis Utd, A short background

Clearly, Glacis Utd are not the best team in the world... Their amateur status shows just how poor they are. This applies to the whole league to be honest.

Glacis Utd, Information

Again, this just goes to show the poor nature of the team. However, that's why I took over, potential European powerhouses in years to come?

Glacis Utd, History

I was pleasantly surprised when I seen this. 17 Gibraltarian Premier Divisions?!?! When I was first employed by Glacis Utd, they were predicted 6th out of 8 teams, seemingly Glacis Utd have had quite a fall from grace in recent years.

End of season one

I was bitterly disappointed with our finish in the league, despite initially being predicted to finish 6th, we found ourselves top of the league on several occasions, and in with a real shout of Champions League qualification. We averaged two goals a game, and our attack was destroying the sub par teams in this league.

As you can see, we suffered a few blips and the 4-4 draw with College Cosmos ultimately cost us the league. I was hoping for some impressive regens in the next youth intake (at least for this level, I wasn't expecting any fireworks).

This was they only player worth taking note of in the whole intake, disappointing. However i'm predicting big things from this guy. His 10 dribbling, 10 passing, 16 flair and 17 determination should aid his cause. Even at 18, he is one of the top players in the league.

This tactic was very effective at attacking quickly whilst at the same time, staying strong in defence. For the two games that Alvarez played, he provided two assists, showing his ability. I'm hoping that he will flourish and be a top player for us, for years to come.

To be expected in the next update:
Mid season 2 update,
Fixture list for the upcoming season and tactics

looking really good i love saves like this cant wait for more to come

Thanks, due to the occasional breaks in the first few games, i'm only a few games in, but hopefully it will pick up :D Its a bit annoying though as the breaks are between 40 and 80 days :(

So, I was sacked...

Shocking, I know, but I was only a few games in so in my eyes, it was a silly decision.

So we we languishing in 7th position after a woeful start to the season. (we had so many friendlies to raise money, which is why they were against much classier teams). But that is in the past, I will post any screenshots, if requested.

I will be staying in Gibraltar however, with the mighty Boca Juniors (GIB). Sitting in 2nd with 18 points from 9 games I felt that, once they offered me an interview, I had to snap it up. Boca are in a good position for promotion, we just need to rack up enough points to knock Hound Dogs of their perch.

View attachment 441886

Our squad isn't the best but they will challenge for promotion nevertheless, i'm hoping to secure some signings to bolster the squad. Steven Vince does look special though, and will be a key player for me.

These are the tactics I will employ, normally I will play one False 9 and two Inside Forwards but we need goals to win, so the two strikers will hopefully deliver.

I was disappointed to be sacked, but i'm looking forward to the challenge of promotion. My other challenges that i have set will remain the same.

I may have been sacked, but i'm back with a vengeance!

Next Update:

Boca Juniors (GIB) going strong heading into final few games.

So we are sitting pretty at the top of the league, and we're scoring for fun. However in 15 games, 15 conceded is just to high... though out defence is among the best in the league.

View attachment 441729

I have a very strong feeling that whether we will achieve promotion or not, will hinge on the last game. We are punching above our weight, but you do see the occasional flash of attacking brilliance, the defence just needs a large amount of work. The whole season comes down to the last four games.

This is the lineup that we've used in the last 8 or so games. Clearly, there are a few new faces, but we will come on to that in a minute. The combination of the AF and F9 is fantastic. Combined with the two wingers providing width, is the main reason why we score so many. The two BWM's are vital to the team however, when they play poorly we lose...

Transfers

View attachment 441727

As every Gibraltan team is amateur, I could steal almost all of my targets, which I did. I would provide a short analysis of each one, but there's quite a few, so i'll do the top 3.

Eduardo Berini: He is fantastic, he can play almost every midfield position, and his 16 aggression is invaluable. Key player for years to come, hopefully.

Zoltan Clarke: This guy was a top perfomer at Glacis Utd, and he has carried on in that vein for Boca. A rock in defence, as well as a "no-nonsense" defender.

Aaron Baglietto: Almost the main reason why we are top of the league, this guy is way too good for this level. Central to my plans, going forward.

These transfers have overall been positive, but if we achieve promotion, a lot will move on, sadly. There are better players around, and hopefully, a good youth intake.

Key Players

Robert Macedo

View attachment 441723

Great player, one of the more consistent players in this team. Work rate and Tackling bodes well for him, being a BWM.

Aaron Baglietto

View attachment 441722

Previously mentioned, great player. 16 flair is strange for a centre back, but he is the best defender in the league.

Nigel Johnson

View attachment 441721

An underrated monster in defence, his stats just don't show him for what he is. One of my favourite players, and a key figure in defence.

Rock Cup Round 1 Draw

View attachment 441720

We get a fairly straightforward draw, avoiding Leo Parilla and Hound Dogs. FC Olympique are mid table in our league, and we will have to do well to progress, but i'm hoping that we will.

Yes, it's been a large update, but there was lots to cram in. Next update may be smaller. Any feedback is welcome, as always. Thanks for reading :D
