MATCH REPORT

In what was a close game New Rangers boss Gavin Miller got off to a winning Start albeit a nervy start when Clyde Striker Kevin Watt but the Scottish 3rd division side ahead.

5 minutes before half time Attacking Midfielder Nicky Law sprung onto a neat 1-2 with Kris Boyd to level the scores.

On the stroke of half time rangers were in front from the a fore mentioned Kris Boyd converting from the sport from a foul on Ian Black in the box.

A tight second half so both teams with chances before Rangers sealed the win on the 89th minute when Fraser Aird took the ball from the bye line and cut inside to drill past the helpless Alan Martin

Substitute Nicky Clark then put the icing on the cake on the 91st minute for Gavin Miller when he scored from a Ian Black Corner with a glancing header past the keeper.

GM:

"It was a good game and I learned a lot about the team from one game , we can keep hold of the ball we can be patient, we don't need to knock it long the boys are comfortable in position, I am however disappointed in the cheap goal we lost and will be working with the keeper and back 4 to make sure our positioning is a bit better"

"The game itself was comfortable for Rangers and after a nervy start to the game the deadlock was broken through Striker Kris Boyd - It was a poor clearance from A Corner which saw Ian Black swing the ball back in for Boyd to nod home for his first Home Goal since his return to Ibrox"

"Rangers then sealed the win when Dean Shiels latched onto a short pass by the East Fife full back Jonny Brown to slot home and Put The Glasgow Giants into the next round of the cup"

GM

"
East Fife were very difficult to breakdown and played solid throughout the game but the 2-0 could have been 4 or 5 and that's what we will need to work on is the clinical side of our game"
