Derby Boss Lost It?!?!?!?!

Current Derby boss Steve McClaren has appeared to go insane after being sighted running through Darley Abbey Park completely naked shouting: "We're going down, we're going down!!" in the early hours of the 1st of July.

After holding a press conference this morning the Rams chairman Andrew Appleby confirmed Steve McClaren would be fired after "disrespecting the club in the weirdest way". It was certainly a unusual moment for the former England boss and one he will surely regret in the future.

McClaren gave no reason to his actions instead insisting that his actions were the result of a visit from the ghost of ex England manager Alf Ramsey who told him to move to the Bahamas.

Either way it is clear the Rams former boss is bonkers! Appleby declined to comment on who would be the next boss but a decision will be made on the 9th of July, with the favorite being Ian Holloway.

New Derby Boss Announced

After a busy past several days Derby boss Andrew Appleby has surprised a lot of people hiring former Arsenal and France superstar Thierry Henry as their new manager. Thierry Henry had this to say at his first press-conference as Derby boss:

Sky Interviewer: You come in on unusual circumstances, what are your first thoughts on being hired?
Thierry Henry: It was a very odd past few days for the club but I am very happy to be here and I want to ensure stability is returned to the fans and players. Derby is a club I have always respected and want to return past glories to the team!
Sky Interviewer: Where do you realistically see the team finishing at the end of this season?
Thierry Henry: I believe the club can achieve a lot and whilst it may take a couple seasons I would like to see us back in the Premier League, ideally fighting in the promotion play-off's at the end of the season.
Sky Interviewer: That might be a bit ambitious?
Thierry Henry: I think that is the only we can be successful. I never would've gotten to where I am today if I wasn't ambitious. We have got some great players and youth facilities and, well, anything can happen!
Sky Interviewer: Can you give us any insight into any players you might be bringing in?
Thierry Henry: Well we have a couple players in mind but I'm not prepared to reveal anything at this moment

The Frenchman only recently retiring from his playing career will be looking ahead to the first set of pre-season games for the Rams with the game against Belgian side RFC Seraing.

Derby Pre-Season Report

After a very successful start for Thierry Henry at Derby it is time for the players to prepare for a long season for the Rams boss. The team started with a big scoring game against Seraing with a star performance from wonderkid Will Hughes. Their second game was against another Belgium side in, Kapellen where Derby won 3-0. The Ram's third pre-season friendly was against League 2 side Mansfield where the fans where the fans were treated to a hat-trick from Conor Sammon which contributed to a 5-0 win. The Rams then played a youth side against another league 2 side Burton where the young Johnny Russell scored the only goal in the game to finish 1-0.

With those positive results the Rams fans are very positive looking ahead to their first Championship game against Blackburn and First Round Capitol One Cup game against York.

In regards to transfers its been slow for Henry with only the three signings. Thierry Henry's first signing was free agent Oscar Ewolo who was a free agent. The central defensive midfielder will come into the side as a back-up for John Eustace.

The Ram's second signing was another free agent, this time a more acclaimed name in Jean-Alain Boumsong. The former Juventus and Lyon man comes in and will most likely be a very important player in Henry's back line.

The third signing by the new manager is the former Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Fulham right back John Paintsill to fill that gap in the full back position.

It'll be interesting to see how these new signings go at Derby and who, if anyone, Thierry Henry decides to buy and if he decides to sell anyone.

Slow start for Henry and the Rams

It is been an interesting first 5 games for the new Derby manager with 3 wins out of their first 5 games. It's been a steady pace
for Henry with several new signings which would've surely helped change the tides to give them a 2 game win streak.

Thierry Henry saw his first game in charge end in a 2-1 defeat after they held tight for so long but crushed in the 87th minute to a Jordan Rhodes strike. The game did however show what a class goal keeper Lee Grant is after making several key stops.

The second game saw Derby host league two side York in the first round of the Capitol One Cup. The
Rams found themselves 1-0 up in the 40th minute after a Mason Bennett goal, that was then followed 4 minutes later by a goal from Chris Martin. The Rams were in control for the rest of the game except in the last 10 minutes when York piled on the pressure and managed to score a late goal to finish the game 2-1.

Derby's third game of the season saw them get a real reality check through a crushing away 2-0 loss to Bristol who are currently in 1st position. The game was dominated by Bristol and Thierry Henry was quoted afterwards saying; "I think this game shows how badly we need to bring in some more players because the ones we have now aren't in form and we have the money in the bank to spend". After his clear intent to bring in some players who aren't on the free market the side was freshened with a few new names, spoken about later.

The fourth game for Henry and Derby saw them get their first win the Championship against highly tipped Leicester thanks to a 9th minute Craig Bryson goal with the game ending 1-0.

Derby also got a 1-0 win against Yeovil thanks to a goal from the loan star Ryo Miyaichi.

With 2 wins and 2 losses Derby are currently in 11th position, 4 points below the top.

In regards to transfers Henry has brought in 5 new faces since the pre-season. After announcing a link would be created between Derby and Henry's former team Arsenal the Ram's loaned the young Gooner Ryo Miyaichi on a 3 month loan which'll be surely extended. The Ram's also parted with a figure of 1 million pounds to sign centre mid Richard Smallwood from Middlesbrough. The side also signed free agent and former Manchester United youth player Dean Santangelo. The signing of left back Rhoys Wiggins and wonder kid Jeffrey Monakana capped off the transfers in so far for Thierry Henry.

In regards to departures Derby lost 3 players including Jamie Ward, Adam Legzdins and Saul Deeney. The team also sent 8 players on loans including newly signed midfielder Jeffrey Monakana.

With the future looking positive for Henry and his boys the Derby fans can look forward to the next few games with the second round fixture of the Capitol One Cup coming up next against Bournemouth.

Interesting next six games for Derby

It was a truly mixed next six games from the Rams and Thierry Henry. The pick of the games were the two Capitol One Cup clashes were Derby beat Bournemouth 4-0 which put them into the 3rd round against Cardiff. Pride Park was the venue for one of the biggest tests the Ram's will get this season as they hosted Premier League side Cardiff. It was a hard fought match but a late 82nd minute goal from Conor Sammon gave Thierry Henry and his lads a big win.

With 3 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses in the last 6 games it was a rocky period for the Ram's and they see themselves at 12th and 5 points out of the play-offs spot.

Incredible Run for Derby

The Derby fans will be ecstatic with the way their team have picked up their performance in the league to finish off the first half of the season. After their incredibly slow start Derby saw themselves in the relegation zone in 23rd with only 4 wins from 10 games the incredible tension coming over Thierry Henry with speculation he was not suited for the job.

After a loss to Leed's at home on the 5th of October Thierry Henry took him team into a hotel and locked them all in a room, including his staff! Whatever he said or did it seemed to work as Derby then went on to win their next 3 games including a 4th round Capitol One Cup tie with Burnley. A loss at Q.P.R gave them a scare but the team then went on a 6 game win streak which sky rocketed the team to 5th and a fight for promotion.

The biggest test for the team however was the landmark game that many had been waiting for since Thierry Henry decided to return to England. The quarter final of the Capitol One Cup saw Thierry Henry take his side to the Emirates Stadium to battle with Arsenal! A quick meeting between the two prior to the match saw the laughs shared with a couple blows exchanged between the two Frenchman, including one from Wenger where he sarcastically compared the likes of Conor Sammon to Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott saying; "I must admire your striker Thierry! He is very similar to likes of Giroud and Walcott, remind me how many times he has been in a team that plays in European competition?!" before Henry was quick to reply; "Remind me Arsene how many trophies you have won since I left?" A chuckle from Wenger ended the conversation.

The game was surprisingly close with Boumsong opening the scoring giving Derby the early lead in the 28th minute but the celebrations were put on hold ten minutes later when Davide Santon scored his first goal for his new club to tie the game 1-1. It was an incredibly close game with the hosts getting the last laugh as Walcott netted the winning goal for the Gunners with 10 minutes remaining.

Wenger admitted to underestimating the Championship side saying; "Of course we played well but I think Derby and Thierry deserve a lot of praise. They fought well and I look forward to playing them in the league next season" The last comment by Wenger caused a lot of confusion with such an odd comment only half way through the season.

As of the 4th of January the Rams are currently sitting in 3rd on 44 points and 3 points behind Q.P.R and on the same points but a good amount of goals ahead of Burnley.

In terms of transfers it is believed that Henry will look to make the loan move of Miyaichi a permanent deal with the strong link between the two teams evident, this speculation may become reality in the next few days. It is also believed after the cash injection provided by the board Henry wants to add a striker to his team with David Ngog the leading candidate.

Odds are suggesting the Rams success cannot last and the club will finish 6th and lose in the first game of the playoffs. Only time will tell for the Rams however as I'm sure Henry and his lads will look to make sure his team do a lot better than that!
