I was just looking at my last couple of games and started to wonder how the ratings for goal keepers were given. I am started to get confused. For example we can see that when a player score their rating goes up (most of the time unless they have a mare somewhere), if a player gives away a penalty or makes a mistake leading to a goal their rating goes down and we can see how these correlate. However i just can't seem to understand goalie ratings and it seems a tad skewed. Here's what i have experienced recently in my last 4 games:

My goalie has has to make a combined total of 5 saves, conceding 3 goals, needing just under 2 saves per goal with an average rating of just over 7

The computers goalies have had to make a combined total of 36 saves, conceding 13 goals, nearly 3 saves for every goal with an average rating of 6.7

Obviously this is a very small sample size but it made me wonder......

Clearly we can see the opposition have conceded a lot more than me however, my goalies save to concession ratio is over a goal worse and surely if the goalie is making a lot of saves stopping me from scoring more their player rating should be higher and my goalie where he has basically had to do ****** all should get a lower rating.

Can anyone explain to me??

I was just about to start a Chicken v Egg thread. Does goalies ratings degrade striker ratings, or visa versa? What decides who should rise?
