I'm doing a network game with a friend, i'm Athletico Madrid and he's Barcelona, we're in march 2016, and I find myself top by 2 points, although barca with a game in hand, and on a fantastic 50 game unbeaten streak in all competitions (34 in the league). My next game is against Sporting at home, was fairly confident going into the match and played near my strongest team. I dominated them, was all over them from the kick off and stayed like that for the full 90. I'm sure you can all see where this is going -

full time: Athletico Madrid 0 Sporting 1

Now i see a lot of people on here complaining about the number of missed chances, that is obviously an issue, and it has cost me in the past, but what happened here is another issue which i'd like to talk about - Goalkeepers.

Not only did I dominate the game, 2 of my shots were complete screamers from the edge of the box that i wouldn't expect any keeper in the world to save. Guess what? yuppp, this keeper saved them both. Their goalkeeper is at best an average keeper at this level. additionally, i had 3 other fantastic chances and they were all saved, these are the kind of saves you only expect world class goalkeepers to make.

Now onto Sportings goal, guess how many shots they had? 3. How many on target? just the 1. a decent hit from just inside the box that you would expect the majority of keepers to beat away. David De Gea, 26 years old (on my game) and pretty much at his peak, A world class goalkeeper, got a hand to it, but it slipped into the side netting, goal.

Now, before you accuse me of moaning because I lost my precious streak, let me get to my point. I know that players have off days, and i know that a player may have an outstanding game, even if they are just an average player, even a bad player. I accept that what happened here is may just extremely unlucky, but the amount of times it happens is shocking. Okay I was on a 50 match unbeaten streak, but before that streak started, it happened countless times to me, also on my Liverpool game with a world class Reina. (some of them were also just my players missing sitters all the time, what most people complain about. some have been a combination of missing sitters and their average/bad keeper dominating).

So as i said, i accept that players have on and off form games and I was probably just very unlucky, but what are the chances of this scenario happening about once every 10 games (probably happened to me that much if i average it out).

Ironically their keeper was Rui Patrico (plays for Sporting CP in real life), on this network game my friend (barcelona) got him as back up keeper then sold him to sporting a few years later. And i'm now 4 points behind barca (they won game in hand). Pretty ****** haha.

I totally understand your feeling. I had that **** once with a goalkeeper named Craig Gordon (I still remember his name, that proves how shock I was ). He basically became a God in that game. Not only catching but gracefully holding every single of my shot from the screamer to a header to the placed shot. I got 42 shot and 33 shot on target in that match from the like of C Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez and Villa but nothing slip out of his hand. He got 10 rating for that match.

You were on a 50 match unbeaten streak and you're complaining about bad luck? Get real. You were due some bad luck if that was the case. Every so often you dominate a match but still manage to lose if the keeper has an absolute blinder, you just roll with it.

Everyone loses some games, a lot of people on here would kill to be good enough to earn a 50 match unbeaten run, so chill. Not sure why you started this thread tbh, what do you expect us to do about it? We can't change the game :)

just like what godcubed said, get real.

look at the atmosphere when arsenal were beaten at OT back in 2005(i think) in that 49 unbeaten run.
embarrassment it was, but at least be hold that u had 50 game unbeaten run to start with.

everyone can win, but they should even lose. :D

Really guys? did you only read the first half of what I said? because my point was not moaning about losing my streak. I was saying how its unrealistic how often it happens and its something that needs to be sorted out for fm12.

I'll tell you what's unrealistic, going on a 50 match unbeaten run with Atletico.

Except it obviously DOESN'T happen that often if you've just managed to have a 50 match winning streak. That's odds of 50/1: hardly often.

Oh please. I give up. you obviously didn't read the whole post. Don't bother posting if your just going to accuse me of moaning or whatever, I'm not gong on about my unbeaten streak. And i clearly said that it happened to me countless times before the streak. I've had this problem with all my saves, some more than others. It did happen in the streak too though, where i was held to at least 5 draws because of it, that makes it 10/1. and as i said previously i feel this is a fair number to give based on how often it happens to me. Unrealistic? yes.

How often does someone like Ben foster play like Peter Schmeichel in the same game that Valdes plays like a championship goalkeeper? Not as much as 1 game in 10, that's for sure.

if u dont lose, u dont see the hidden scar in ur team. maybe the CB that u loved all time was the weakest link for all those days.

We know that, but what do you want us to say? Many of us disagree with you, and I'm sorry that you wanted an entire thread of people agreeing with you but hardly anyone does. We know you're not going on about your streak, but I was just using it to illustrate my point.

Well, it hasn't happened to me that often. Maybe twice or three times have I been truly single-handedly kept out by a 'keeper. Also, 5 draws doesn't make it 10/1. 45/1 at best, so long as we assume that every one of your draws was the result of an awesome keeper.

I have my own story about the GKs too. I had a cup match with Atlético(that's how to write the team's name) against Barakaldo CF(third division). Of course a player named Urko Arroyo scored one from like 50 yards, then another one, from his own goal. Yes. From one goal to another. I will know his name forever...

Okay i'm sorry it didn't come across as if people were paying attention to my point. I wouldn't know the exact number of times it happens to me, and as I said sometimes it's also the stupid amount of clear cut chances that players like Aguero miss. But it seems like it happens to me a lot, i'm not saying that it always happens and whenever i don't win its because of this, because sometimes i do just get dominated. I just think its unrealistic that this happens. The game before the one i talk about, their goalkeeper conceded 4 goals to malaga and they only had 5 shots on target. And after browsing through AI games, I have yet to find a average goalkeeper dominating in the same game a great goalkeeper sucks.

This is very common and I'm sure will be looked at for future FM games, chin up though 50 unbeaten is amazing

Yeah i'm delighted with it, although you wouldn't see at as much of a big achievement if you saw my team :P This isn't really the way you want your streak to end though and I was pretty mad haha. i actually had exactly the same the next game though, lost 2-0, 2 shots on target, i had 14 shots on target, 4 clear cut chances, their keeper had 9.4 rating.

i get what you mean, but i was on a 47 game winning streak, played brighton as im man u i expected to win as i had neymar de gea rooney hamsik jones and ronaldo, i lost 1-0 to them, i was angry but it happens

Feel my pain, I saw David James yes David James stop 21 shots on target. He got a 9.8 Average match rating. I had Tevez, Dzeko and Aguero up front for 70 mins before adding a fourth striker in Huntelaar. Now i can assure you Huntelaar has 19/20 finishing. He had 3 point blank open goal chances, Out of no where superman saved them. I can now offically hate David James. Btw i lost to bristol 1-0 in the end.

I've never lost a game because of a GK doing brilliantly, I've drawn a few. Doesn't really bother me tbh, adds a little extra to some of the easier games. Still no matter how good a GK is doing there are ways of scoring still, just need to use the right tactics at the right time.

At 50 games you should be worried about keeping your players motivated. You sound like you know how to play the game so I'm not going to lecture, but I know with my streaks if I mess up the talks or something then a bunch of zombies will take the field, especially against weaker opposition. It may not even say so in their mood or the asst. manager's teamtalk but it's obvious. Bring on the Youth and Reserves, make some radical changes or something. You can usually tell when it's going to be one of 'those' games when the half ends and your shots and possession are through the roof.

Move positions around, go all out attack and bring on some youth.
