goalkeepers scoring?

im playing as bognor and my goalkeeper Thierry Gorree (reunion) sometimes ends up taking the free kicks, as with a free kick rating of 10 i actually have him as like 3 or 4th choice, not for novelty, purely cos his free kick rating is better than most in my squad!

Anyways, he's just scored his first goal and it got me wondering if any you have ever had goalscoring goalkeepers? I know there's prob 1 or 2 with decent free kick ratings (that brazillian, ceni i think his name is for example). So any of those that u guys know of? or any that are randomly and suprisingly good at free kicks?

Also do u still get goalkeepers going up for corners occasionally? It used to happen on some older games that ud see the gk 'disc' (before the 3d match engine) running forward. Although usually as soon as the kick gets taken they start running back rather than actually staying in the box trying to get on the end of things and so I never saw them score like that. If im losing by 1 goal i go in my tactics and set the goalkeeper to attack the near post but same thing seems to happen and he just starts running back.

Also anyone had or seen goalkeepers score with long kick a la Paul Robinson for Spurs a couple of years ago? I remember seeing it on older FM games, but not the new one.

Anyways, no big deal as it doesnt really matter but just wondered if anyone had a goalkeeper score for or against them before.
 
Not on FM but an interesting story anyway. ( I think )

Was playing This Is Football 2005 with my mate at his house, where he was unbeaten, and we were doing a 2-legged game. He was Celtic, I was Real Madrid. In my away game we drew 1-1 and then in the home game I was winning 2-1 in the last minute. For some reason he brought on GK Magnus Hedman at left-back, I think McNamara got injured. So he gets a corner and whips it in, with who else standing at the back post to toe it in but the substititute!!! lol Cue me taking a rager and him gloating no-end.
 
You can order your keeper to go up for corners in the individual player instructions.

Have had keepers taking penalties before now (and not just in shoot-outs) but never risked them taking free-kicks - didn't fancy a save and a quick punt upfield to concede :D
 
yes,use your gk to take a penalty kick..
the chance is 50-50

yeah obviously i know a gk can take pens or free kicks, but just wondered if it ever happened in a less manufactured way. Guess not!

Yeah i remember chilavert, although dont think hes around playing any more
 
well, there is a chance that ur goalie miss the free kick and opponents get to score via an empty net... so i wont wanna take the risk. :)
 
yeah its happened once! he hardly ever takes them, but most players in my squad have a free kick rating of about 7! so hes prob 3rd best
 
One of my teams once had a 3rd line goalkeeper and a striker who and the same surname, I didn't notice until half time, and he had scored 2 goals. That was back in old CM4 days haha

same ahppened to me, 2 spanish players, one a forward, the other a gk, both identical names. golaie scoreda hat trick in a cup game befoer i realised what had happened, this was on fm 2007!!!
 
In FM 2009 I've actually had a GK score, in free play, he ran out to clear a ball, hoofed it down the field and it bounced over the unsuspecting keeper! It was in the BSP though!

no joke youtube enyeama he takes penalties for his club in real life,
also in fm07 in champ league final kameni scored a header for arsenal in the 93rd minute to equalise against real madrid, sadly i was in charge of arsenal or i would of ran round the room screaming
 
as a goalie in real life i boast a career goals tally of 9. all of these goals have come while playing at the following teams (Boston United on a YTS, Queensland Roar Reserves, and my local club sides u18's and first team)

2 drop kicks (with a tail wind) that bounced deep into the opponents half and sailed into the net.

2 free kicks and 1 penalty.

2 headers from corners in the last minutes of games.

an overhead kick from a sideline free kick!!!!

a dribble and long range shot after a corner was cleared and i was standing in the centre circle, due to us putting them under huge amounts of pressure, i was basically a sweeper.

not to mention countless penalties in shootouts. including saving my opposite numbers penalty in suuden death then scoring the winer by nutmegging him!!!!

just a little toot on my own trumpet there.... lol
 
In real life, my teams goalie has a monster drop-kick, he's scored 3 times from them this season lol
 
I had David Marshal score a free kick from my own half. Other keeper was way off his line and never even tried to get it

I had Artur Boruc do this a few times for me too.:D
