Hi this is my first attempt at a story so please be nice 8-| As you will probably notice I do a lot of business in the transfer markets and like to have my own squad at my disposal. This story will be for Arsenal and I will try to win some trophies as early as possible. Any advice, praise or criticism are welcome. So here it goes!!!

Arsenal sack Wenger!
Arsenal have an announced the sacking of Frenchman Arsene Wenger with immediate effect. Sky Sports understands that the board are impatient for success and now wanted a manager who could take them forward. Arsenal Football Club have also stated that they will announce their new manager in the near future

Goodman announced Arsenal boss
Today Arsenal football club have announced that rookie manager Tom Goodman will take over the club. Arsenal Chairman Peter Hill-Wood announced Goodman has signed a two year contract and his main aim will be to lift some silverware in these 2 seasons. Goodman told Sky Sports News "I am delighted to be here! This is my chance to show what I can do to the world". Our sources tell us that Goodman has received a transfer budget of around £50million and has the complete backing of the board to bring in some fresh talent.

Summer Signings

First in the door were freebies Joe Cole and Michael Ballack after being released by Chelsea. These two players will bring strength and depth to the midfield with added experience and class.

Antonio Cassano was my first major summer signing. I had to pay £15m plus Nicklas Bentdner but the Italian has an eye for goal and a great technical ability.

I then brought in Jorge Andrade, Martin Petrov and Fabio Aurelio on free transfers. With a tough champions league campaign to come I thought these players would help increase the size of the squad.

Vincent Enyeama and Maxwell followed with the Nigerian costing just £220k. The Brazilian left back was brought in on a loan deal with a future fee agreed with Barcelona.

Arsenal bring in Liverpool Skipper
Tom Goodman has opened his cheque book to sign Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard for a massive fee of £75million. It is believed Liverpool would not accept a penny under this amount. Questions have already been asked by the Arsenal fans who although admit Gerrard is a massive coup for the club, believe £75million is too high for a player of his age.

Nicholas Burdisso, Gojko Kacar and Oguchi Onyewu followed Gerrard in to add ability to the defence.

Obviously many players had to leave the club due to the massive spending on new players. Out the door went :

Tomas Rosicky
Theo Walcott
Johan Djourou
William Gallas
Lukasz Fabianski
Nicklas Bendtner
Vito Mannone
Abou Diaby
Denilson
Emmanuel Eboue
Jay Simpson

Pre Season

Boreham Wood 0-5 Arsenal
Barnet 2-4 Arsenal
Vit. Guimares 0-3 Arsenal
Belenses 1-5 Arsenal

A pretty good pre-season. Although I didn't play any tough teams we scored many goals which gives me confidence going into the season.

Start of the Barclays Premier League 2009-10 season
Newcastle United 0-1 Arsenal
Andrey Arshavin
Attendance from St. James Park: 50, 751
A pretty good start. We dominated this match and fully deserved the win. We had a goal disallowed and had many opportunities but couldn't put them away.

Update Soon

Good luck mate, but £75 million for Gerrard? That is a bit insane don't u think?
Other signings were decent but u shouldn't have gotten rid of Bendtner ;)

newcastle were in the championship in 2009/2010 oO)

looks good, bit i think you shouldn't buy gerard... he is to expensive

some great signing there, would like to no how you come about most of them though, surely the sale of all them players you sold would just about pay for Gerrard then you make 4 or 5 high profile signings, editor used maybe?

Probably monthly installments, good luck :)

Can we see an overview of your transfers please? Not accusing you of cheating, I just want to see how much you paid/received for some players.

Cheers Mate

No, in the update I got Arsenal get to spend £52mil. If you look on the screenshot I received a lot of money through selling players. No cheating mate, I don't go down that road

you spent £107 million on transfers, you raised £67 million through player sales. that must mean you started with £40 million?

that sounds reasonable enough to me, like i said some great signings there though! hope you do well (although at the same time being a manchester united fan, i hope you dont) ;) lol

Cheers mate. Yeh was a bit too much but I wanted someone to partner Fabregas. Maybe I should have bought someone else but he can have a massive impact

Bottom of first post??

Gourcuff would have been a better buy than Gerrard.

nice layout gerrard will not dissapoint although not worth 75 million due to his age but good luck

Edit: which database are you using if you don't mind me asking?

Why didn't he just put 2010-11 instead of 2009-10?

Because in the update I got mate, the season starts in 2009 not 2010 so if I put 2010-11 then that would be wrong

Gourcuff would have been a better buy than Gerrard.

Yeh I normally buy Goucuff but I wanted a box to box midfielder as Goucuff is similar to Fabregas in terms of being a playmaker

Cheers mate. Erm i used http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=2656 that one :D

Sorry didn't see the screenshots, out of it today!

This should be good, though I agree that Gourcuff would have been a better choice. Nevertheless Gerrard is still a great buy :)

Thanks for all comments guys :D

Small update

Barclays Premier League
Arsenal 1-1Liverpool
Arshavin
Attendance from the Emirates: 60,361
A decent result, not the best but as we went one goal down to a Dirk Kuyt header, 1-1 is a fair result. The first half was an even game with few chances. The second half we dominated as we searched for the equalizer. It came through Andrey Arshavin's second goal in as many games - good start by the russian. We had man chances after levelling but couldn't find the winner. Steven Gerrard disappointed against his former club

Champions League Draw
Group H:
Arsenal
Roma
Anderlecht
Unirea Urziceni

League Cup 3rd Round Draw
Peterborough - Away

Barclays Premier League
Arsenal 3-1 Fulham
Van Persie (2)
Arshavin
Attendance from the Emirates: 60,361
A good result and a better performance. We played really well and created a lot of chances. We were unlucky to concede and unlucky not to score more. Arshavin scored once again whilst Van Persie opened his account for the season

PLAYER OF THE MONTH: ANDREY ARSHAVIN
The Russian has made a good start to the season by netting three goals. He has looked dangerous in every game and will hopefully continue this form for the rest of the season
next update tomorow :D

Cheers mate. Yeh maybe I should have signed Gourcuff but as you said Gerrard is still a great buy
