And the wait is over...... Arsenal have announced their new manager, although a bit of a strange decision to appoint someone with no managerial experience they introduced 31 year old John Stallard as the man to lead the club. Although unknown in the managerial world, Stallard has 33 caps and 5 goals in his England career, he played for clubs such as; Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Athletico Madrid and a brief spell with Arsenal before his career unfortunately cut short due to injury, not stopping there Stallard earned his coaching badges and impressed the board with his knowledge and tatics that they felt it was right to offer him this opportunity. As the pre-season draws near, and the transfer dealings come and go...All updates will soon follow....

So the preseason has come and gone, Arsenal's new manager receiving mixed results while rotating players, but wins against Monaco and Juventus should help them get off to a good start to the season. It appears that the transfers have slowed and Arsenal seem in no hurry to bring anyone new in, only two major signings coming, one departed and two more out on loan.
View attachment 306625Bonucci is the first signing for Stallard arriving from Juventus for a pricey $35 million.
View attachment 306624Wanyama is the second signing coming from Southampton for $29 million.
Departures:
Coquelin exits on a permanent deal to Crystal Palace.
Campbell heads back to Spain on loan, with Sanogo heading home to France on loan.

CUP SUCCESS!!!!
Manchester City 1 - Arsenal 1 (Arsenal win 5-4 on penalties)
Team line up: Szezesny, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Wanyama, Wilshere, Ramsey, Ozil, Cazorla, Welbeck.
Subs: Martinez, Bonucci, Chambers, Arteta (on for Wanyama), Chamberlain (on for Wilshere). Giroud (on for Welbeck), Podolski.
After the dealings going on, Arsenal set their attention to the community shield where they went up against Manchester City. The match was a close encountered one, early woe for Arsenal as Wilshere left the game early in the first half with injury to be replaced by Chamberlain. Chamberlain slotted into the right inside forward position with Ozil coming in the middle, this didn't take long to be a positive as the start of the second half produced the first goal with Chamberlain hitting the back of the net. The game went back and forth only for Man City to hit back midway through the second half. So penalties it was to be.... Arteta seemed nervous as the first kicker for Arsenal as his shot was saved, thankfully Szezesny had the same idea by saving two. Finally it came down to Debuchy who hit the back of the net to ensure a 5-4 victory for the Gunners!!!! After the game we caught up with Stallard who had this to say: "Obviously it was a great win for the club and starts our season on a high, but it is only one game and there is a long way to go, and a lot of hard work ahead."

The premier league is firmly underway, and for Arsenal fans things couldn't have started off any better. The gunners are currently sitting top of the league winning 3 out of 3 and advancing in the champions league to the group stage.
Pick of the games surely for the Arsenal fans is the opening day 4-0 thumping of local second rate rivals S**rs. Stallard commented after the game "It was a fantastic team performance, and couldn't have asked for a dream start to the league over our rivals."
Arsenal 4- Tottenham 0 : Chamberlain (2), Giroud, Welbeck
Arsenal 3 - Grasshoppers 1 : Chamberlain (3)
Arsenal 5 - Stoke 2 : Wilshere (pen), Koscielny (2), Giroud, Welbeck
Arsenal 2 - Grasshoppers 1 : Ozil, Giroud
Arsenal 1 - West Ham 0 : Giroud

Pick of the players over the last month have certainly been Oxlade-Chamberlain and Olivier Giroud, banging in 9 goals between them, and Mesut Ozil setting a goal scoring record of just 17 seconds in the champions league qualifier. Leicester City await Arsenal in the league cup draw, something which has been a little kind to the gunners, but not something they can take likely.
Elsewhere in the league, the woes continues for Newcastle United as Chelsea thumped them 7-1.
