I'm looking for a tactic that is hard for teams to break down. A bit like how Jose Mourinho sets his teams up in the champions league to grind out results, but also carries that attacking threat on counter attack.

Can anyone help?

I've found that a 4-2-3-1 Deep tends to be a good formation for grinding out 1-0, 2-1 type results with weaker teams. I've used a counter/control mentality depending on whether I'm the favorite or not, but I suppose you could experiment with that since I don't claim to have invented any spectacularly good tactic or anything.
