Postecoglou Diagnosed With Cancer
Just a day has passed since Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou was rushed to St Vincent's Hospital, and today the facility's media officer released the grave news of the 48 year old's diagnosis.
R.Brown said:"It is my sad duty to inform you all that Mr Postecoglou, after being admitted to the facility yesterday, and after conclusive testing, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Mr Postecoglou will be monitored and treated for the next 6 months, and I advise that although we will do everything we can, we must prepare ourselves for the worst. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Thankyou.
The announcement has shocked the Australian football community, with Postecoglou considered a healthy man for his age and still going strong. The rapid deterioration of his health has seen many tributes from ex-teammates and players. Perhaps the most telling was from the Twitter account of the Australian Player's Association.
APA said:Ange Postecoglou is in all of our hearts, from grassroots to the A-League, we wish you a speedy recovery. #getwellsoonange
The hashtag '#getwellsoonange' is trending at Number 1 on Twitter at the moment, with great solidarity shown by the Australian football community in response to this shocking development. Meanwhile, Football Federation Australia are left with a dilemna. Who will replace Postecoglou as national team manager?
