Newcomer to FM base, so I bid you multiple hellos. I've read FM Base for years and I commend you, there are tremendous footballing minds here.
Been playing FM since '01.
Preferred Teams / Ones I use in game:
England: Man U (but never play with them, too easy), Everton's my pick
Spain: Barca (since I was a kid), but always use Albacete.
Italy: Roma, but always give it a go with Cagliari.
Germany: Leverkusen, but Kaiserlautern gets my vote to play.
Hollans: PSV, but I look to win with Vitesse.
Brazil: Sao Paulo gets my nod, but I try with Sport Recife.
Argentina: River, but Talleres is my go to team.
Chile: Universidad Católica, but always start with Huachipato
Insane over domination tactis and high tempo/octane football, even though I'm always better a creating high octane offense rather than possession football, but as always in this sport, it's a work in progress.
Managers:
Rijkaard, a master tactician, really continued a school of football -started with Cruyff- that Guardiola later went on to polish into the dynasty Barcelona has become.
Bielsa, dogmatic, narrow, uptempo master. His one sin: pride. He'll either triumph or go down in flames with his football.
Van Gaal: Transition manager, played a pivotal role in the shift of stlye in European football from the 80's to 90's.
Spalletti: mad sicentist
Del Bosque: The Picasso of football. He's truly turned possession into an art form.
Ferguson: Is there a formation he hasn't employed successfully
That's me for now. Looking forward to reading your great insights, opinions, and overall ideas.
Cheers!
