When you create a manager you can upload a picture?

ah indeed you can but alas im a total douche and forgot.

tbh i've been playing this for over a decade and i've never chosen to use one before.
Now i really want one in there but im in season two with a high rep and dont wanna start again

Is the manager picture so important?

Kinda.

I always like to create new managers by giving them different names each time i play ( i never play as myself) and I've found an awesome pic on google images which suits the persona of my current manager great.

If you can't help dont worry but perhaps someone could point me in the direction of someone who does. After all if it was possible (and threadworthy i might add) last year then why shouldn't it be this time around?

Thanks all for quick replies :)

turn on Unigue I.Ds get your Unique I.D. (usually beside your name Tom Jones, Anyold Team (unique I.D. 87847504750347503497) and rename the pic you want(png format) and drop it into a folder inside graphics at C:\Documents and Settings\Marko\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2010\graphics\Me

create any folders you may need. create a config file with the following (to create a config file, create a new text document and save as>>config.xml)

put the following into that tex doc you created with any changes:

<record> <!-- resource manager options --> <!-- dont preload anything in this folder --> <boolean id="preload" value="false"/> <!-- turn off auto mapping --> <boolean id="amap" value="false"/> <!-- logo mappings --> <!-- the following XML maps pictures inside this folder into other positions in the resource system, which allows this folder to be dropped into any place in the graphics folder and still have the game pick up the graphics files from the correct places --> <list id="maps"> <!-- Auto generated by fmXML -->

<record from="name of your pic" to="graphics/pictures/person/YOUR unique ID/portrait"/>
</list></record>

make sure the cache thingy is on always reload in game settings....

you can drop that into any existing game. requires game restart if not showing.

thanks for the help mate but its not working still.

firstly, im using Windows 7 so those paths you mentioned are inaccurate for my OS.

I have either C:/Users/Ceri/My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2010/
(but no graphics folder in there - created one but still didnt do the trick)
OR
D:/Football Manager 2k10/Data/sigfx/graphics/
OR
D:/Football Manager 2k10/Data/sigfx/graphics/pictures/

Also could you highlight in bold the text im supposed to add to config - i tried it but dont know where it goes and which parts precisely im meant to change

Many thanks again for your help though

yeah so create a graphics folder in C:/Users/Ceri/My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2010/

make another folder in graphics called ME (this is where you'll be dropping your pic). Make sure it's a small enough pic (mine is 250x330, squarish if possible.

make a new text document and copy and paste the following into it:
<record> <!-- resource manager options --> <!-- dont preload anything in this folder --> <boolean id="preload" value="false"/> <!-- turn off auto mapping --> <boolean id="amap" value="false"/> <!-- logo mappings --> <!-- the following XML maps pictures inside this folder into other positions in the resource system, which allows this folder to be dropped into any place in the graphics folder and still have the game pick up the graphics files from the correct places --> <list id="maps"> <!-- Auto generated by fmXML -->

<record from="this is the name of your file" to="graphics/pictures/person/this is your unique ID in the game/portrait"/>
</list></record>

^that's what you need, just put the name of your file where it isays to and your own unique ID where it says. Save as and call it config.xml

put that into the ME folder with your pic and make sure in-game.... goto Preferences>>display and sound>> untick use skin cache and tick instead 'Always reload skin on confirm'.

quit the game and restart, if you've followed these steps it should appear if you've used the right unigue ID.

hey, i'm having the same problem and i tried the method you mentioned above but still no luck as thw manager picture still not appear, any other suggestion?

copy and paste what's in your config file here please........ in the mean time double check your file paths and your ID and the display settings in-game. It will be one of these four things.

here's the config file. i put the file in the right path (c/my documents/sports interactive/fm2010/graphics/me) and the ID is right for sure and if by display setting you mean the unticking of the cache thing in preferences, then yes i have done that also

if that doesn't work, download graphics guru

it will create config for you.

find the sports interactive/fm10 file on computer, create a graphics folder there if you dont have one and then create a folder in graphics called me. put the picture you want in there, picture size needs to be around 200 x 200. you can resize pic using paint if its a massive pic.

open up graphic guru
there will be 5 tabs: faces, kits, logo, background, basic xml
make sure faces tab in highlited, then click on new file
a sreen will appear for you to find where you want to create the new file in, find folder me, when in folder me click save.
it will come up with a couple af message telling you no images have been saved, ignore this just click ok.
click on add, a seperate window will appear and should have your picture in it. also shows file name and unique id boxes. put the unique id of your manager in the unique id box. size should be normal, if not tic it then press ok.
that window gone and back to guru, click save. exit guru

re load fm
preferences, display and sound, untick skin cache and tick re load on confirm
click confirm.

should be done, look at your managers profile
