Help conceding and lack of goals

Hi guys new to this forum and im struggling with macclesfield. I finished mid table in my 1st year and i am about 5 games into my 2nd season.
So far i have had the same problem over the 2 seasons. My team give the ball away too often resulting in few chances in the game, while the opposition have about 15-20.
My formation is 4-1-3-2. I man marking, quick tempo, just shy of wide width (using old skool tactics), deep defensive line, attack mentality, Mixed passing style and own half for closing down.
When watching the highlights quite often they always seem to have a spare man to play the ball to.
Any help would be nice.

Personally, I'd make the width of the team narrower, slow down the passing and make it short passing rather than mixed. Should be able to keep possession a bit better that way. Also, push the defence up, that way your defence will be able to get involved more in the passing that if they are camped on the edge of your penalty box.

thanks i gave it a go in one half of a game so far. the oppo still had a good number of chances, but i drew, will report back after a few games

still struggling...just created 5 chances to the oppositions 24. also conceding soft goals

just something to add- managers keep praising me for my passing game (i usually have about 50%-60% possesion) and others say i dont shoot enough

i created a new tactic using the new style and its working well so far, just outside the playoffs

Isn't there a touchline instruction to shoot on site?
May be worth a try giving it a go and seeing what happens.

I was gonna ask how many of your opponent's shots were on target as well as yours? I've found if they are getting high shots against you it's because they are taking long shots more than clear cut chances. Let's hope your new tactics works for you

take the "walk it into the back of the net" with a pinch of salt - it's cos they don't like you
