Help for a lower leage manager (Not a who to buy thread)

So i have just started a new season with Thurrock. I have not strengthened my squad that much due to a small wage budget, plus my scouts spent ages trying to find decent enough players that took a rolling contract rather than a weekly wage contract, that they have now all been snapped up.

Here is my main question: When is the best time to buy players on Frees?
Does the database add Free regens to the game? or do they just come through the youth system?
If they do come through as frees do they all come through together? or one here and there?

I want to somehow get in there before all the other clubs get there share of players.

mathias cardocia and ahmed soukouna shud be avaliable for free at start then just sell em on ull get 5 to 7 mill for both wil set u up for couple years loan from prem league to league 2 wnt have to pay wages

Did you spell the first guy right? Can't find him.. Got soukouna though... nice!! Sold for min fee 4.6 mill after doing an awesome job for us at right wing!

I like to get them in as early as possible in preseason get their fitness levels up and get them gelling. At lower levels though I bring players in and let them go on an almost weekly basis but I always try to avoid signing anybody after January. By the time they're fit and working with the rest of your team the seasons finished and you've spent a lot of wages on a player who hasn't produced.
