Help, how to make CMs perform better..

I play three in the centre with a DM and two in centre or I also play a flat 442. I set my central midfielders simply as CM automatic but they rarely ever play well or score ratings into the 7s. I've tried assigning specific roles too depending on player such as BWM or DLP but rarely seems to make any odds. I set team instructions as: retain possession, play out of defence, pass into space, be more disciplined, exploit flanks, play wide. Any advice?

try Advance playmaker on attack for your cm, this role would get you assists and goals

i tend to avoid having cm's on automatic role.. if you are going to hve two cm's and one dm, try using an anchor role for dm, dlp on support nd either just have the third as cm support of box to box support.. and little wonder they don't get much of a rating, you are exploiting the flanks! if you have three midfielers either exploit the middle or o not exploit anything!

people often over look the CM, it's one of the most important aspects of a possession based formation.

thanks dude, makes sense really I do want to make best use of central midfielders as I have some good young talent I'll get to work on the changes.

Lol yeah he is 31 right now. Couldn't believe it when he appeared on my screen being offered about by his agent. Still waiting on him playing well though!
