I am managing Bolton. LB Paul Robinson has acceleration of 11 and RB Gretar Steinsson has acceleration of 12. The Nanis, Matas and Pennants are going past them at will and I am in all sorts of trouble.

I play a 4-5-1, with the defensive line of the defensive strategy ( because of my slow defenders - could not buy fast defenders as Bolton have no money ) , the width of counter strategy, standard mentality and tempo with zonal marking. My full backs are assigned the role of FULL BACK SUPPORT. By default, full backs on support duty are supposed to tight mark whoever is in their zone...

So my questions are fivefold...

1. Will changing their duties to FULL BACK DEFEND help in improving their performance against fast wingers ?

2. As I am playing with the width of a counter attacking team , will playing wider help ?

3. Will the following OI combination on fast wingers help --- never mark tightly, close down always, hard tackling, show on to weaker foot ?

4. Should I change to man marking for my full backs alone ?

5. Or are my fullbacks just terrible ?

Pace and marking for fullbacks are very important. I have tight marking and man marking for my fullbacks. Closing down instructions can pull your fullback out of position.

1-Stay on full back support.
2-Play narrower. Wider will isolate ur fullback from ur DC and spaces left will easily exploited by the wingers.
3-I only use show to weaker foot to several offensive players who are i consider as threat (wingers mostly).
4-Yes, always use man marking for ur wide players (ur fullback and wingers).
5-Decent, but not terrible. With right combination with ur DC, ur defense will be better.

Good luck...
