Hey I'm hoping for some help with my man city tactic. I use a 4-1-2-3 that sets up like this

------------GK-d------------
CWB-s--CB-d--CB-d--CWB-s
------------HB-d------------
---------CM-a--B2B-s-----
IF-a--------------------IF-a
------------F9-s------------
standard-very fluid
team instructions
prevent short gk distribution to make the other teams goalie not be able to make easy passes and keep possession
push up slightly higher and close down much more both to try and win possession back up field quickly
short passes and much higher tempo to try and pull other teams who will mostly be sitting back to try them out
work into box in the few friendlies I've played we had way to many long shots and this is to restrict that
no pis
concerns are that my flanks with be to exposed on the counter and that the halfback role won't work properly and will need changing
if anyone can see a problem with this please let me know

should I switch one of the CWBs to a more defensive role to combat counters and keep better shape defensively?

You can consider changing the B2B to CMS. You already have quite a number of players bombing forward so the CMS can try to hold his position more either to help recycle possesion or help out when there is a counter against you.

To do this would I have to give him the pi hold position or will the role naturally keep him in behind the front line

463

I would use Advanced Forward instead of False Nine
I'm trying to make the forward drop deep bringing him marker with him and open space for the IFs and CMs and the Advanced Forward would make that impossible

You've lots of players forward with a system that loses possession alot, short pass/high tempo will lose the ball more that retain it. Formation is fine if you win it high, but if you lose it you've only really the back 3 to rely on.

The style you have seems kinda of jarred, retain and work the ball passing wise, but setup for high press and fast counter. The passing style is set opposite to the team formation.

I want to use a formation and system that can win the ball up high and since most teams will be sitting back against me (I play as Manchester city) I thought the short fast passing was the best way to draw them out of shape without disrupting the press. would it be better if I went more direct and went to put the ball over the top?

Keep on a lookout for him and see if he still venture forward frequently. If yes, then add in the hold position PI. Can also check his average position using the analysis.

Ok thanks I'll try it out ^^)

I would change Half Back to Defensive Midfielder and changed the duty of Inside Forwards to "Support"

Try this fella
Absolute beast of a tactic that works even with lower league sides, as it has a lower league tactic similar to it to accompany it for away games for bigger sides

Make sure when you load it you change both tactics to attack from control as for some reason it is set to control

Also i find re training all players including reserves and youth players positions works very well

enjoy
